Girano pure ste foto fake su forum tedeschi :D

Inoltre a mio avviso siamo solo all'inizio della cooperazione.

Etihad ties up with Air France-KLM; next Qatar-oneworld and the aviation world turns on its head

Etihad today announced a sweeping alliance/partnership with Air France-KLM, presumably pre-empting an announcement later today from New York which will have Qatar Airways partnering with all or part of the oneworld team.

Following hard on the heels of the Qantas-Emirates partnership announcement from Sep-2012, this means the three Gulf carriers – previously the bêtes noires of the European airline establishment – will establish themselves at the core of the new global world order. It is difficult to imagine a more dramatic shift in the balance of power as is occurring now.

Until all the necessary approvals are in place and the flow-through implications evolve, there is still much left to speculation, but it is clear that the repercussive effect of Qantas-Emirates is resounding loudly and every major airline will now be re-assessing its role and positioning in the overall system.

One major airline apparently left out in the cold is Lufthansa, especially as the Etihad announcement talks of an Air France-airberlin codeshare “allowing customers of each of the two carriers to fly seamlessly on all the routes operated by the other between France and Germany”.

A historic Etihad/Air France-KLM codeshare agreement, as a 'first phase'

The main points of the Etihad announcement are:

“a historic agreement to codeshare on flights across the airlines’ networks, the first phase of a much larger strategic partnership which commences on October 28”;
the agreement “will see Etihad Airways and Air France-KLM offering joint codes on destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia”; and
“a mutual codeshare agreement allowing customers of each of (Air France and airberlin) to fly seamlessly on all the routes operated by the other between France and Germany”;
“proposed integration of frequent flyer programs”, with “reciprocal ‘earn-and-burn’ privileges for 1.5 million Etihad Guest members and 21 million Air France-KLM Flying Blue frequent flyers across the combined networks”;

Moreover, as Etihad notes, “other potential areas of co-operation include joint procurement, as well as maintenance and repair collaboration, as both carriers identify cost savings and seek to benefit from economies of scale”.

Understandably there is some caution in the range of network cooperation envisaged in this “first phase”. Air France and KLM each have extensive networks to nurture and will not be keen to see them cannibalised. At the same time, the carriers are each conscious of the rapid pace of market evolution and are apparently looking on the new agreement as a fundamental part of their long term strategies.

Lufthansa now becomes the odd-man out?

The next shoe to fall in this three-legged race is for Qatar to announce its planned membership in oneworld and a combination with BA-Iberia parent IAG.

That leaves one major European airline without a partner on this new dance floor: Lufthansa. As head of the Star Alliance, Lufthansa has occupied a prominent position as a network carrier, with a host of partner/satellite airlines. The carrier has actively resisted the expansion of the Gulf airlines into its territory, a fixation that may now see it sidelined as the powerful new entities line up.

Although Lufthansa was courted by Etihad in 2010, senior management resisted the temptation to change course, preferring to rely on its strength in its home market and the power of the Star Alliance grouping which it heads. This may now prove to have been an awkward decision. Etihad’s first move was to partner with airberlin, right on Lufthansa’s doorstep. Now, with a promised Air France-airberlin codeshare, the foreign intrusion becomes ever more poignant.

The casualty: global alliances under attack

The highly pragmatic role of airberlin in this process is one indicator of just how flexible airlines are now becoming in their attitudes to global alliance membership. The Berlin-based carrier has only recently joined oneworld yet seemingly has few qualms about partnering with one of British Airways’ arch rivals, Air France.

Today promises more. Later today, a major announcement is to be made from New York by the oneworld leadership. It will no doubt be another important shift in the aviation industry’s global axis. But Etihad and Air France-KLM have already stolen some of the thunder from that statement.

James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer

I’m delighted to announce that Etihad Airways and Air France-KLM have signed a historic agreement to codeshare on flights from October 28 across the airlines’ networks, the first phase of a much larger strategic partnership.

In time, we expect this strategic partnership to deepen and provide significant benefits for both airline groups as well as opportunities to develop an unrivalled commercial relationship.

The agreement reflects the core elements of our 10-year master plan - organic network growth, combined with the forging of strategic codeshare partnerships and minority equity investments in other airlines. The linking together of these three components, as we continue to strengthen our bilateral agreements, means all the pieces of our plan are coming together.

Initially, the codeshare agreement will see our EY code placed on Air France flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Bordeaux, Copenhagen, Madrid, Nice and Toulouse.

The EY code will also be placed on KLM flights between Amsterdam and Abu Dhabi, Billund, Cardiff, Newcastle, Oslo and Stavanger.

Air France will initially place its AF code on Etihad Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and the Seychelles, the Maldives, Colombo, Dhaka, Kathmandu and Islamabad.

KLM will place its KL code on Etihad Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and Sydney, Melbourne, Islamabad, Colombo and Lahore.

This deal enables us to further extend our global reach and gives us a combined network of 321 destinations – the largest of any Middle East carrier. It opens up many new markets for our passengers in Europe and reinforces the importance of strategic commercial partnerships as one of the key enablers for accelerated growth of our network.

As evidenced by our quarter three results, partnerships are delivering a major source of our revenue growth, by extending our network reach and putting our brand directly in front of millions of new customers. This year to date, they are providing 18 per cent of our revenues and will be a major contributor to our sustained profitability growth this year and into the future.

We will also work with our new strategic partners on integration of frequent flyer programs, including reciprocal ‘earn-and-burn’ privileges for 1.5 million Etihad Guest members and 21 million Air France-KLM Flying Blue frequent flyers across the combined networks.

Other potential areas of co-operation include joint procurement, as well as maintenance and repair collaboration, as both carriers identify cost savings and seek to benefit from economies of scale, as Etihad Airways is doing with its other strategic partners.

Separately, I am also pleased to tell you that Air France has announced a new codeshare agreement with airberlin, in which we hold a 29.21 per cent stake. The codeshare agreement allows customers of each of the two carriers to fly seamlessly on all the routes operated by the other between France and Germany.

Our new strategic partnership with Air France-KLM, one of Europe’s most prestigious and respected airline groups, is an exciting development for our business and I will keep you updated about future developments.

The Air France-KLM Group, Etihad Airways and airberlin announce new partnerships

Monday 8 October 2012
The Air France-KLM Group, Etihad Airways, and airberlin announce that they are going to implement a commercial partnership. As of October 28, 2012, Air France, KLM, Etihad Airways and airberlin will offer their customers more destinations thanks to mutual code-share agreements.
On the routes between Europe and Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways customers will be able to fly on the Amsterdam-Abu Dhabi daily flight operated by KLM.
Air France customers will be able to travel everyday between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways operated flights.

New connections through the global gateways of Paris-CDG, Amsterdam-Schiphol and Abu Dhabi
Beyond their gateways, this code-share agreement offers five destinations each to Air France and KLM passengers on the Asian and Australian market and ten European destinations to Etihad passengers on Air France and KLM.
• Air France passengers will be able to connect through Abu Dhabi for flights to Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Katmandu* (Nepal), Mahe (Seychelles), and Male (Maldives).
• KLM passengers will be able to connect through Abu Dhabi for flights to Colombo (Sri Lanka), Islamabad (Pakistan), Lahore (Pakistan), Melbourne (Australia), and Sydney (Australia).
• Etihad Airways passengers will be able to connect through Paris-CDG airport for flights to Bordeaux, Copenhagen, Madrid, Nice and Toulouse under an Air France operated flight, and through Amsterdam-Schiphol to Billund, Cardiff, Newcastle, Oslo, and Stavanger under a KLM operated flight.

* subject to governmental approval

New opportunities in Europe for airberlin, Air France and KLM customers
Air France and airberlin announce a mutual codeshare agreement, allowing customers of either carrier to fly on all the routes operated by the other between France and Germany. Passengers will also be able to connect to some selected destinations via Paris for airberlin, and via Berlin or Düsseldorf for Air France.
• Air France passengers will be able to connect through Berlin-Tegel airport to Krakow (Poland), Gdansk (Poland), Graz (Austria) and from Düsseldorf to Dresden (Germany) on services operated by airberlin.
• airberlin passengers will be able to transfer through Paris-CDG and Paris-Orly to Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseilles, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, and Toulouse on services operated by Air France.

Additionally, KLM and airberlin will cooperate on routes between the Netherlands and Germany:
• KLM will codeshare with airberlin on three destinations beyond Berlin: Krakow (Poland), Gdansk (Poland) and Kaliningrad (Russia).
• airberlin will codeshare on Berlin-Amsterdam routes as well as on Edinburgh (UK), Glasgow (UK) and Manchester (UK) beyond Amsterdam.
