Pochi giorni dopo la chiusura di Aigle Azur anche XL Airways altra compagnia francese è in grave difficoltà e sospende le vendite dei biglietti. Diversi voli cancellati.

Nel frattempo altre compagnie ne approfittano per rimpiazzare le rotte: French Bee e Corsair aprono un daily ciascuna sulla ORY-EWR:

French Bee adds New York service from June 2020

French Bee on Wednesday (18SEP19) opened reservation for its new US service, announced earlier this month. The airline will launch Paris Orly – Newark route, on board Airbus A350-900XWB aircraft. This route will be served on daily basis.

Corsair adds New York service from June 2020


French carrier Corsair on Wednesday (18SEP19) opened reservation for Paris Orly – Newark route, scheduled in summer 2020 season. Like its rival French Bee, the airline will commence service on this route on 10JUN20, however it’ll initially operates this route 5 weekly, increasing to daily for peak season from 23JUN20 to 07SEP20.

In collaboration with the French Civil aviation authority and the administrators appointed by the relevant French Court, due to its financial difficulties, XL Airways is deeply sorry to have to announce that XL Airways is suspending its operations effective today, 30th September 2019, at 3.00 pm until, 3rd October 2019 included.
If your ticket is part of package, you should contact your travel agency and/or your tour-operator to seek out for alternative travel arrangements.
You may also contact your travel insurer if your travel is covered by an insurance.
You may also contact your credit card issuer to check if insurance coverage and/or if some refund possibilities are available.
If these solutions are not available to you, you should purchase a new ticket from another airline. Usually, in similar circumstances, preferential rates from other airlines may be available. Once you have purchased a new ticket, you must file your claim to the receiver (SELARL BALLY MJ) using the link below within 2 months as from the issuance of the French court decision.

Coup de théâtre chez XL Airways : Gérard Houa dépose une offre de reprise

Rebondissement chez XL Airways. Selon nos informations, Lu Azur la société de Gérard Houa, l'actionnaire minoritaire d'Aigle Azur (20%), qui était candidat à la reprise d'Aigle Azur, aujourd'hui liquidée, a déposé une offre de reprise pour XL Airways, peu de temps avant la tenue d'une audience au tribunal de commerce de Bobigny cet après-midi. Lu Azur promet d'injecter 30 millions d'euros, « 15 millions en fonds propres et 15 millions sous forme de prêt actionnaire ».

Pour rappel, XL Airways est en redressement judiciaire et a arrêté ses vols lundi dernier.

Restructuration du réseau

Gérard Houa compte présider XL Airways et nommer Philippe Bohn, directeur général. Un schéma qu'il avait déjà proposé pour Aigle Azur.

Gérard Houa propose de reprendre deux A330 (sur 4) en leasing et conserver 276 salariés sur 570. Si son offre est acceptée, il arrêtera les vols vers la République dominicaine, les Antilles et la Réunion qui sont déficitaires et conserveraient ceux vers le Mexique, les États-Unis et la Chine. Selon Gérard Houa, "XL Airways est en mesure de se redresser en quelques mois sous réserve d'un apport de fonds de l'ordre de 30 millions d'euros".

Gérard Houa s'est fait connaître fin août pour avoir tenté de prendre le contrôle d'Aigle Azur. Le 26 août, il avait investi le siège d'Aigle Azur et évincé le PDG sans passer par la voie légale d'un conseil d'administration. Après la mise en redressement judiciaire, il avait été candidat à la reprise, mais son offre ne permettait pas d'assurer un avenir pérenne à Aigle Azur, selon le tribunal, et elle a été jugée irrecevable.

Le tribunal devrait mettre sa décision concernant XL Airways en délibéré à la fin de la semaine.

Court Rejects Sole Takeover Offer for XL Airways, AFP Reports

The French commercial court in Bobigny, near Paris, announced the compulsory liquidation of XL Airways on Friday after rejecting the only takeover offer presented for the carrier, AFP reports, citing the court.

Gerard Houa, minority shareholder in Aigle Azur, had offered EU30 million for the airline and planned to keep close to half of its 570 employees, AFP reports
