AEGEAN expanding flight services this winter. Nine additional international destinations in the 2014/15 winter timetable.

Support of the extension of the touristic season

Kifissia- September 16, 2014

This winter, AEGEAN, a Star Alliance member, is adding more destinations and frequencies to its existing network. AEGEAN announces the operation of nine additional international flights from Athens, (compared to winter 2013), contributing thus significantly to the development of tourism and the extension of the tourist season.

In specific, AEGEAN will extend the flying period of 8 international summer-season flights to cover the winter period as well and resumes flights from Athens to Cairo, enhancing at the same time frequencies on existing routes. The 2014/15 winter timetable comes into effect on Sunday 26 October 2014 and applies until 28 March 2015.

Connections in Western Europe

Summer connections from Athens to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Manchester, Zurich and Marseille will be continued in the winter offering even more options and better connections to passengers.

Significant growth in the Middle East and North Africa

During the winter season, beginning October 26, AEGEAN will continue to operate flights to Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Amman, while the company will resume flights to Cairo after a three year hiatus.

Increase frequency of existing routes

The company enhances the frequency of routes from Athens to Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Düsseldorf, Geneva, Vienna, Prague, Warsaw, Rome and Tel Aviv.

Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of AEGEAN, stated: “It is time we realize that the main challenge and objective for all of us in the Tourism industry is how to extend the season. This requires concentrated efforts and investment in flights, charges, products and promotion. Aegean is strong enough to support this effort and will continue to do it. However we also need the airports, the state tourism policy and the overall tourism product to evolve in the same way”.

In the context of its ongoing development, AEGEAN increases the size of its fleet through the order of 7 new Airbus A320ceos, equipped with the new "Sharklets" on their wings, which will be delivered directly from the manufacturer. With the integration of the new aircraft, the company enhances its capabilities and one of its main competitive advantages, the low average age of the fleet. The deliveries of the seven new aircraft will begin in June 2015 and will be completed in early 2016.

AEGEAN, which currently operates 205 international routes, from its 8 Greek bases, is the largest ever Greek enterprise in the aviation sector. As the first Greek carrier with 13,000,000 available seats and 120 destinations – 87 abroad, in 32 different countries, and 33 in Greece – AEGEAN has set itself the target of placing Greece firmly back on the global aviation map.

Maintaining its excellent record of recognition as the Best Regional Airline in Europe, AEGEAN received an award from SKYTRAX in 2014 for the 4th year in a row. The World Airline Awards are the top awards in the global aviation industry and represent the highest accolade for an airline, depending entirely as they do on passenger votes.

AEGEAN presents its new uniforms designed by renowned fashion designer Sophia Kokosalaki

Kifissia, 6 April 2015

AEGEAN, a Star Alliance member, renewing its image and evolving the presence of its staff members, presented its new uniforms, designed by the renowned London-based Greek fashion designer Sophia Kokosalaki.
In choosing Sophia Kokosalaki to design the company’s new uniforms, AEGEAN reaffirms its commitment to promote the work of Greeks around the world, hence highlighting the Greek nature of its operations.
Throughout all aspects of its operation, AEGEAN is inspired by Greece and the characteristics of its people. A prime example is the selection of a Greek fashion designer excelling in the international fashion industry.
Mr Dimitris Gerogiannis, AEGEAN's CEO, stated: "Our Company’s Greek character always pushes us to promote and showcase the work of those who share the same values with us. We are very happy about our collaboration with Sophia Kokosalaki and the new dynamism she brings to our image by creating our new staff uniforms."
The designs of the new uniforms combine the Greek element, promoted by AEGEAN and the fashion designer's love for Greece, which is her point of reference in all her creations. In addition, as Sophia Kokosalaki has stated, her work is guided by the principles of ancient Greek classicism: the search for balance, and economy of line, simplicity and timelessness. Sophia Kokosalaki used these same principles not only for the dress she designed for AEGEAN's flight attendants but also for the uniforms of pilots and Airport Ground Handling personnel.
Fashion designer Sophia Kokosalaki stated:
"The image of AEGEAN is one of a dynamic, modern, Greek airline and I tried to reflect and convey that in my designs. I admire AEGEAN for the ethos that runs through all their activities and their trajectory and growth they have achieved over the years. The uniform is functional and elegant with a hint of Grecian classicism. Modernity, realism and quality were of major importance."
Bringing together the company's corporate colours (deep blue, red and grey) and Kokosalaki's designer identity, the new uniforms represent more than just a new look, signalling the start of a new chapter for the company. The new uniforms and accessories are practical, allowing easy movement while working, while being stylish and elegant.
"I tried to retain my designer identity as well as AEGEAN's corporate identity. It is difficult to design clothes for many different people in different roles and achieve a beautiful effect that will please everyone. It was a great responsibility, because first impressions are important. I would like people to see Greece also as a modern, cultural and sophisticated society. "
From April 1[SUP]st[/SUP], 2015, AEGEAN's Pilots, Cabin Crew Members and Airport Ground Handling Personnel welcome passengers in their new uniforms, maintaining the company's tradition with regard to aesthetic quality and Greek character while renewing the company's presence before, during and after the flights.
