A QANTAS Airbus A380 superjumbo has landed safely after being diverted to Dubai with an oil problem in one of its engines.don to divert to Dubai.
Crew of the aircraft , operating QF 31 between Singapore and London, noticed a problem with oil quantity in the number four engine about 90 minutes into the flight. They made the decision shut down the engine and divert but did not declare an emergency.
"It was consuming oil more quickly than would normally be the case," a Qantas spokesman said. "
Itlanded about 11.45 am our (Sydney) time, which is 4.45am in Dubai, so were just waiting for more information from the engineers over there."
The airline has had other problems this year with an oil usage on its A380 engines but it is understood to be in a different part of the engine to the problem that led to last year's engine explosion on QF32. It is not clear whether this is a similar issue.
