A febbraio retro livery BOAC su 744 BA!


Credo che abbiano voluto limitarsi alla linea diretta dell'albero genealogico, se cosí si può dire; Speedbird è rimasto in uso quando, da BOAC+BEA, si è passati a BA. Altrimenti avrebbero dovuto aggiungere anche, oltre a BEA, Dan Air, BCal, bmi, Cambrian, Northeast...

Se permetti non sono d'accordo. Dan Air, BCal, BMI, Cambrian e Northeast sono state acquisizioni. British Airways e' nata dalla fusione di BEA e BOAC. Cha abbia mantenuto Call Sign e codice di BOAC (rispettivamente Speedbird e BA) e', secondo me, immateriale. Se hanno messo il logo di Imperial Airways potevano mettere il logo di BEA.
Dove per BEA intendo British European Airlines con sigla BE, non la BEA che venne dopo che era Birmingham Express Airways.:D

intendo dire che hanno seguito la linea dei loghi...
 
Per me le world tails è stata l'idea più bella che abbiano avuto, davvero meravigliosa, peccato che in ba abbiano calato le braghe di fronte alle stupide richieste della lady di ferro

BOAC retro livery to celebrate our centenary


As part of our centenary, we will be painting a Boeing 747 in the much-admired design of our predecessor - British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC).

The livery from the 1964-1974 BOAC era - pictured above and below - will adorn a B747-400, registration G-BYGC. The aircraft will leave the paint shop in Dublin and arrive in to Heathrow on February 18, before entering service the following day. This coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Boeing 747 flight only a few days earlier.

In caso anche ci si domandasse se questo sia l'unico aereo con livrea retrò, sempre un flebile indizio dal post #1:

The 747-400 has been deliberately chosen for the BOAC livery as it is a later variant of the same aircraft type that adorned the design when it was initially in operation. The BOAC livery will remain on the Boeing 747 until it retires in 2023.
