Il collegamento servirà per portare in Italia (ce ne sarà uno anche per la Grecia) i vecchi emigrati degli anni '50 e '60 e i loro figli, quindi tutti meridionali, a parte qualche veneto. Per questo traffico etnico è molto più adatto FCO.
In realtà sono pochissimi gli Italiani che vanno in vacanza in Australia, molti meno quelli che ci tornano, mentre gli Australiani sono abituati al lungo raggio: infatti la meta più vicina, a parte Bali e la NZ, è Singapore a quasi 8 ore di volo da Sydney.
Quando sono tornato dal viaggio down under mi sono ripromesso di tornare presto, ma il volo è davvero lungo, gli spostamenti interni pure, il Paese non è dei più economici, insomma dopo quasi dieci anni non ho ancora replicato.

No, rileggi sopra si parla di un possibile stop a SIN o tempo fa parlavano di BKK ancora non è chiaro
Visto. L'avevo già letto, ma ho dimenticato di sottointendere che ho visto una presentazione del 787 (forse era il 787-9), dove si mostrava un'autonomia tale da fargli fare Londra-Australia senza scalo!

Budget airline Jetstar has taken a major step towards low-cost flights to Europe with the announcement it will begin long-haul routes from a new base in Singapore later this year.
The Qantas no-frills offshoot will become the first long-haul budget carrier to operate out of the city-state when it receives the first of two new Airbus A330-200 aircraft in December.
Jetstar chief executive Bruce Buchanan said the airline's first routes out of Singapore would be announced in coming weeks and would either be into Australia, northern Asia or Europe - most likely Rome or Athens.
Rome and Athens were selected by a combination of market opportunities and the capabilities of the A330 aircraft, Mr Buchanan said.
"With A330s, if we were to go into northern Europe we would suffer a significant payload restriction ... and Qantas already serves London quite extensively," he said.
"Southern Europe offered an attractive market and no one else was really serving that market."
Mr Buchanan said the airline would employ up to 200 new staff to be based at the Singapore hub.
Jetstar has 25 Boeing 787 Dreamliners on order, some of which are also likely to be based in Singapore.
Mr Buchanan said the longer range of the Dreamliner would deliver opportunities for more destinations and bases, including other parts of Europe.

Low-cost carrier Jetstar Asia will receive its first Airbus A330 by year-end, and plans to launch long-haul flights from Singapore before Christmas.
It is in talks with several authorities and airports in north Asia, Australia and Europe to secure rights to fly there, says Jetstar Asia's CEO Chong Phit Lian.
The airline, which operates nine A320s, expects to receive its first A330 in December and a second A330 in the first quarter of 2011, she adds.
"The two aircraft will give us an additional 400,000 seats per year out of Singapore," says Chong. The aircraft will be leased by Jetstar's parent Qantas Airways, which said last year that it planned to allocate some A330s to Jetstar.
Chong says Jetstar Asia is in talks with authorities and airports to secure landing rights and slots for flights, and adds that these will be firmed up in "the coming weeks".
On the list of potential destinations is Tokyo Narita, which Jetstar Asia has already secured rights for.
The carrier is also considering destinations in China, Korea, France, Italy and Greece, says Chong.
"We are looking at Rome and Athens, but with the situation in Greece at the moment, it might not be feasible," she adds, referring to the ongoing debt crisis in Greece.
A Jetstar spokesman says the carrier will likely launch double daily flights from Singapore with the A330s to two destinations.
"There is a relatively high utilisation rate with the A330s, which can fly up to 16 hours a day," he says.
Jetstar had announced in January that it is making Singapore its main hub in Asia, and plans to start more flights from the country. It will commence flights between Singapore and Osaka via Taipei from 5 July.
Qantas is expected to receive three more leased A330s next year, on top of the two that have been set aside for Jetstar Asia. However, it is not clear yet if Jetstar Asia will receive more A330s in the future, says a Jetstar spokesman.

io penso che sarebbe meglio tagliarsi le vene piuttosto che stare rinchiusi in un aereo per 23 ore..
ovviamente i voli saranno via SIN dove JetStar intende basare parte dei nuovi 332 che le arriveranno. E' impensabile il volo diretto. JetStar è interessata al Sud Europa piuttosto che al nord per 2 motivi : volare a nord significherebbe dover volare con un payload + basso per via del fatto che è + distante mentre il centro europa è presidiato da LHR col volo Qantas.
Il sud Europa invece non è presidiato dalla compagnia (e infatti credo che ormai le mediorientali la facciano da padrone)
Sperimo che a causa della crisi Atene venga messa fuori gioco e la prima rotta europea sia FCO
Oltre che per l'Australia ottimo anche il p2p per SIN che è la destinazione Asiatica con il prezzo medio del biglietto piu' alto anche facendo scalo.

Oltre a FCO sull'Italia potrebbero pensare anche a qualcosa a più a nord, tipo Milano, il mercato potenziale non manca di certo. Da SIN poi con Jetstar Asia e Tiger Airways, è possibile a prezzi low cost raggiungere tutte le principali destinazioni dell'aerea.

comunque se i prezzi fossero buoni penso che ci sarebbe la possibilità!
