Alitalia and Aeroflot sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Rome, Italy - At present two carriers offer code-share jointly operated daily flights between Moscow and Rome, Milan, Venice and Turin

(WAPA) - "The 3rd of December 2009, Rome – Alitalia and Aeroflot have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies, within the framework of the official Russian – Italian intergovernmental summit talks, held under the leadership of the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, and the Italian Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Silvio Berlusconi.

The document ascertains the intention of both airlines to develop their existing bilateral partnership and cooperative relationship.

The goal of the cooperation is to further develop new routes and frequencies between Italy and Russia as well as implement a wide ranging reciprocal code-share to domestic and beyond destinations (Alitalia services to Africa, Middle East and Latin America will ideally show the Aeroflot code; Aeroflot services to Asia will reciprocally bear the Alitalia code). Such ambitious development will allow Alitalia and Aeroflot to improve their joint presence on key aviation markets.

Two carriers intend to cooperate more closely in network planning between Russia and Italy, in reservation procedures in order to increase connectivity between their respective networks, in joint sales and marketing promotions to increase the flows of business and tourist passengers between the two countries.

Both Airlines intend to also extend mutual access to their loyalty programs and to harmonise their passenger service standards, irrespective of the actual operating carrier on the route, to the benefit of the common customers.

Alitalia and Aeroflot are going to partner in information technology, charter and cargo traffic as well as in the other spheres of the airlines’ activity.

In order to manage effectively their strengthened cooperation, Alitalia and Aeroflot will establish a governance mechanism: it will ensure the timely and balanced delivery of positive results, to the airlines and their customers.

Two airlines have a long standing cooperation based on bilateral agreements such as code-sharing, interline, interline e-ticketing, and are both key members of the SkyTeam alliance.

At present Alitalia and Aeroflot code-share jointly operated daily flights between Moscow and Rome, Milan, Venice and Turin.

The signature of this Memorandum inaugurates a new stage in the development of the commercial cooperation between two Airlines and adds a valuable contribution to the progress of the Italian-Russian relationship".

Only a few days ago during a conference organized by Italian ENAC (Civil Aviation Authority) held in Olbia (Sardinia), the Italian Premier, Berlusconi, had announced "I'm working for agreements between Alitalia and Russian airlines". Today the official confirmation is arrived. (Avionews)

ottima notizia!
Su e' un partner importantissimo per AZ e per SkyT. Anzi mi chiedo quando vi sarà maggiore integrazione nell'alleanza per questo vettore.

Berlusconi, Putin to sign cooperation deals

25.04.2010, 01.26

ROME, April 25 (Itar-Tass) -- Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in his private residences outside Milan to discuss a wide range of issues of bilateral economic cooperation, the Italian governmental press service said on Saturday.

According to the press service, the two prime ministers will hold an unofficial meeting at the Arcore villa Sunday evening. On Monday, Berlusconi and Putin will move to Villa Gernetto in the town of Lesmo, where they are expected to sign a number of documents, including an agreement on cooperation for the reconstruction of two architectural monuments in the city L'Aquila, which suffered from a devastating earthquake last year - the palace Ardingelli and the Church of St. Gregory the Great, and a protocol of intent for the creation of a fusion reactor in Russia. Italy attaches great importance to cooperation in the nuclear sector after the Berlusconi government decided to go back to nuclear power engineering.

The agenda also includes issues of cooperation between Italian and Russia companies active in the energy sector (ENI of Italy and Gazprom of Russia – chief partners in the South Stream gas pipeline project), in the automotive industry (Sollers of Russia and Fiat of Italy), and in the area of air transport (Italy’s Alitalia and Russia’s Aeroflot airlines).

According to local observers, during the “private” visit by the Russian prime minister, Berlusconi will present his new “house of receptions” – Villa Gernetto, an 18th-century palace boasting 36 hectares of woods and a terrace overlooking the valley of the Lambro north of Milan which he plans to convert into his planned "university of liberal studies", but where he will retain a wing for his own use.

In pratica AZ+SU propongono ai TO Maldive e Tailandia via Mosca? Quanto durerebbe il viaggio?

Dubito avranno bisogno dei passeggeri italiani per riempire quei voli.
