Athens airport on high alert over bomb alert
Tuesday, 06 October 2009

The passengers aboard a plane which was to take off at Athens’ airport were evacuated over bomb tip, local media said on Tuesday.
The media said flight cancellation was prompted by a telephone tip-off that there was a bomb on board.
Unknown individuals made phone to Elephterotypia newspaper and Alter TV station minutes before the scheduled take-off and warned of the presence of a bomb on the Alitalia plane.
The plane, bound for Rome, was to leave Elefterios Venizelos airport with 185 passengers and 7 crew members at 07:05 hrs.
All passengers were evacuated and the police are searching the aircraft.
Some media suspect that terrorist organization Revolutionary Struggle stands behind the incident.
