Un 737 della Continental Airlines è uscito di pista durante il decollo da DEN e ha preso fuoco. Le 112 persone a bordo - 107 pax e 5 equipaggio - hanno lasciato il velivolo con gli scivoli d'emergenza. Secondo i responsabili dello scalo una sola persona è rimasta ferita nel corso dell'evacuazione. Altre fonti parlano di 36 persone portate in ospedale, solo 7 delle quali ferite in maniera leggera. Il volo Co1404 era diretto a Houston.
 
Continental Airlines Responds to Flight 1404 Accident
HOUSTON, Dec 21, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- HOUSTON, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) tonight confirmed that flight 1404, a Boeing 737-500 aircraft carrying 110 customers and five crew members, went off the runway at Denver International Airport following a scheduled 6 p.m. MST departure to Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport. Continental and Denver International Airport are providing assistance to the passengers at this time. A number of injuries have been reported and authorities are transporting passengers and crew to area medical facilities as necessary.

The company is in the process of collecting additional information and will communicate additional information once it is known.

Continental Airlines is cooperating with all authorities responding to the incident.

"The care of our passengers, crew and family members is our highest priority and they will receive any assistance necessary," said Larry Kellner, Continental Airlines' chairman and chief executive officer. "We are deeply concerned by this accident and will do everything we can for the passengers, their families and our co-workers."

Mentre parlavano dell' uscita di pista del continental, mostravano video di mezzi di soccorso attorno ad un 757 AA....

Più o meno come, durante i servizi su Alitalia, mostrano l' MD11 AZ attaccato ai pontili di MXP...

Airlines ha preso fuoco ieri uscendo dalla pista in fase di decollo a Denver, in Colorado.
Tutte salve le 112 persone a bordo, che sono riuscite ad abbandonare il velivolo.
Secondo il Denver Post, almeno 36 persone sarebbero state condotte in ospedale, ma nessuna con
ferite gravi.
I 107 passeggeri ed i cinque membri dell’equipaggio hanno lasciato l’aereo tramite gli scivoli
d’emergenza ed i soccorritori sono riusciti rapidamente a spegnere le fiamme, afferma un portavoce

A Continental Airlines Boeing 737-500, registration N18611 performing flight CO-1404 from Denver,CO to Houston,TX (USA) with 110 passengers and 5 crew on board, veered off Denver's runway 34R around 2000 feet (approx. 600 meters) into the takeoff run at 6:18pm local (Dec 21st 01:18Z), went down a ravine north of the west fire station and burst into flames. All people got out of the airplane using slides on both sides of the airplane, 38 of the 115 people on board received non-critical injuries ranging from broken bones to bruises.

The airplane received damages beyond repair, the gear ripped off, the right wing torn off and the fuselage broken. The airplane's right side caught fire, the fire extended into the interior of the fuselage and passenger cabin, overhead lockers melting onto the seats. Around 100 fire fighters were able to quickly contain and finally extinguish the fire despite a continuing fuel leak.

The west runways (34L/R) were closed, while the east runways (35L/R) continued to operate. Flights in and out of Denver are still delayed, airlines advise passengers to call ahead during Sunday to confirm the status of their flights.

Continental Airlines revised the initial figure of 107 passengers and 5 crew to 110 passengers and 5 crew in an updated press release.

PS ma..Continental, è una lo.co.? :clown::clown:
 
Sarebbe interessante capire l'esatta dinamica dell'incidente e le cause che l'hanno provocato. Mi sembra un caso abbastanza atipico.
