Norwegian Air Shuttle agrees to lease four 787-9s from ILFC

Norwegian Air Shuttle has inked an accord with International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) to lease four Boeing 787-9s.
The carrier currently has three 787-8s in its fleet with five more -8s on firm order. It has also two 787-9s on order for delivery in the 2016 first quarter. The 787-9s it will lease from ILFC will be delivered in 2017 and 2018. All told, Norwegian is now slated to have 14 Dreamliners in its fleet by the end of 2018.
“In order to run a competitive long-haul operation, we are dependent on brand new, cost-efficient aircraft,” Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos said in a statement. “I’m very satisfied to have secured an additional four 787-9 Dreamliners.”
Norwegian has faced a series of glitches and teething troubles with its 787s, the first of which was delivered in June 2013, and Boeing has dispatched maintenance personnel to help improve the efficiency of the carrier's 787-8s.
Norwegian noted the 787-9 will seat up to 20% more passengers than the 787-8.

Norwegian to lease a Polish B787 for US flights



Norwegian Long Haul (DU, Oslo Gardermoen) is set to wet-lease an B787-8 from LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) for use on flights to the United States. Polish travel portal, pasazer.com, says the aircraft will be deployed on flights from Copenhagen Kastrup to New York JFK, Fort Lauderdale Int'l, and Las Vegas McCarran over the period October 27 until November 30.

In line with its ongoing restructuring programme, LOT has already leased out its Dreamliner fleet to other operators such as Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) as well as charters for tour firms such as Rainbow Tours.

Mi sembra una situazione win win per entrambi, Lot che ha comprato solo 6 787 ma non sa che farsene, volano con operativi completi solo d'estate poi vengono affittati a compagnie charter durante l'inverno. Norwegian invece sta potenziando il network di lungo raggio e ha necessità di avere nuovi aerei nell' immediato in attesa della consegna dei suoi nuovi 787.

Normalmente quando una compagnia affitta aerei per i pax è un peggioramento del servizio, invece in questo caso chi volerà sui 787 di Lot al posto di quelli di Norwegian si ritroverà un prodotto decisamente migliore. Vedi qui: http://www.lot.com/cn/en/dreamliner-787

Cesare non mi pare un gran win acquistare 6 B787 ed essere costretti a noleggiarne 2 su 6.
 
Ok ma se ormai li hai comprati e te le li ritrovi sul groppone è positivo se fanno un accordo con Norwegian per un noleggio di lunga durata.

ora che i fondi ricevuti dal governo polacco sono stati considerati legali entro la giurisdizione UE circa gli aiuti di stato, la profittabilità dovuta ai mesi estivi ed alla piena operatività dei B787, nel corso del 2015 annunceranno nuove rotte di lungo raggio.

Bene mi fa piacere che la compagnia si sia ristrutturata e che inizieranno a sfruttare a pieno i 787.

Norwegian eyes Canary Islands hub for South American flights

Norwegian (DY, Oslo Gardermoen) founder and CEO Bjørn Kjos says his airline is considering using its base in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands to offer flights to South and Central America.

"We have a base in Las Palmas and from there we can allow thousands of Europeans to fly to the Caribbean or Brazil with our new aircraft. We can create a lot of jobs in the Canaries and this would be great for Spain," he told Spanish newspaper Expansion, in an interview.

Kjos recently mentioned plans to use the carrier's incoming fleet of B737 MAX 8s to open up routes between secondary European airports and destinations in the United States, China, and Asia.

Norwegian maintains a strong presence in the Spanish market with bases in Alicante, Madrid Barajas, Malaga, and Tenerife Sur.
