Anche SAVE e China Southern tra i 20 pretendenti per l'acquisizione del 75% delle azioni dell'aeroporto sloveno di Lubiana, messo recentemente in vendita insieme al suo vettore principale, Adria.

China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) is among twenty other companies that have bid for a 75% stake in Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The airport, along with carrier Adria Airways (JP, Ljubljana) and its subsidiaries, were recently put on the market by the Slovenian state in an effort to cut excess spending and improve the longterm viability of struggling state enterprises.

According to EX-YU Aviation News, the bidders include airlines, airport management firms, pension funds, as well as investment consortia specialising in the restructuring of struggling firms. Among the listed companies are: Frankfurt Int'l's Fraport Group AG, Munich's Flughafen München GmbH, Zurich's Flughafen Zürich AG, Italy's SAVE S.p.A which manages Venice Marco Polo, Verona and Venice Treviso, French engineering and consulting group Egis, and French concession and construction company VINCI.

Despite the resignation of Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek over the weekend, Ljubljana has reaffirmed plans to move ahead with the sell off of state assets with the privatization of Ljubljana airport on track to be finalised during the summer.

France's VINCI Airports confident in Slovenia's Ljubljana Airport development - Balkans News - 09.06.2014:
The French based concession holder and operator VINCI Airports has publicly revealed plans to acquire Slovenia's Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, which the Slovenian government hopes to sell this summer. VINCI, which runs 23 airports across France, Portugal and Cambodia, says it can help develop Ljubljana Airport. “We are confident that we can contribute to the development of Ljubljana Airport. If we purchase it, the airport will retain its name and location and will not become French overnight”, VINCI Airports Chairman, Nicolas Notebaert, said in a statement. Mr. Notebaert added the company’s main acquisition model is through Public Private Partnerships (PPP).
"Our main goal is to establish a decentralised model, where Ljubljana is at the centre, not a branch of the airports in Paris or Lisbon", the VINCI Airports Chairman said. He added one of the company’s key objectives would be to grow traffic at Slovenia’s busiest airport, “The growth in traffic and investments go hand in hand. It is a model used everywhere". Mr. Notebaert noted the European Commission’s ruling on whether Adria Airways’ received illegal state aid contrary to competition laws, which is expected to come soon, will not impact on VINCI’s decision to purchase the airport. “Growth and development cannot be attributed to a single airline. Regardless of Adria Airways’ fate, our decision to purchase the airport will remain unaffected”, he said.
More than twenty companies have expressed interest to purchase a 75% stake in Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. Among them are airlines, airports and pension funds, as well as investment groups specialising in restructuring companies for later sale. Among the interested parties is Asia’s busiest carrier, China Southern Airlines, as well as the Fraport Group, which manages Frankfurt Airport. Others who have expressed strong interest to bid for Slovenia’s busiest airport include Munich Airport, Zurich Airport, French engineering and consulting group Egis, as well as Italy’s SAVE which manages Venice Marco Polo Airport, Treviso Airport, Verona Airport and is the part operator of Charleroi Airport in Belgium. The sale of Jože Pučnik Airport is expected to be finalised during the summer. A new owner will have to address the issue of constructing of a new terminal building. Late last year, the airport’s minority shareholders, mostly made up of banks, rejected plans for the construction of a new terminal, which was pitched by the state. Ex-YU Aviation news

Fraport buys 75.5% stake in Ljubljana Airport

Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport AG and a consortium headed by the Slovenia Sovereign Holdings have reached agreement to purchase Ljubljana Airport in the capital city of Slovenia.

Under the agreement, Fraport AG will pay €177.1 million ($229.2 million) for a 75.5% stake in Aerodrom Ljubljana. The acquisition will be financed from current liquid funds. As part of the privatization process, Fraport aims to acquire 100% of Ljubljana Airport and will submit a takeover bid to the remaining shareholders in accordance with legal and statutory requirements.

Ljubljana Airport handled about 1.3 million passengers last year, up from 1.2 million in 2012. The airport reaches a catchment area of some 4 million inhabitants within a 250-km radius, which includes border areas in neighboring Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary. The airport also serves as a hub in the Balkan region and is the main base of Star Alliance member Adria Airways.

Fraport CEO Stefan Schulte said in a statement, “With Ljubljana, we are adding another airport investment with dynamic development potential. The choice for Fraport underscores our position as a leading global airport manager.”
