First A321-231 arrives soon
The vibe is positively buzzing at Finnair as we prepare to be the first airline in the world to receive the new Airbus A321 equipped with sharklets. The first of five orders flies to Helsinki Airport from Hamburg on Friday September 6.
Later this year we will receive two more new A321-231 aircraft, with the last two to be delivered during the first half of 2014. These aircraft will replace the Boeing B757 fleet, which has mainly operated leisure flights. The new aircraft however will operate both leisure and scheduled traffic, bringing much needed flexibility to our operations. The A321-231 is also more fuel efficient than its predecessor, reducing both our fuel bill and our environmental impact. The longest routes will be to the Canary Islands, northern Africa and to Goa, India (with one stop-over).
The first flight to Helsinki on September 6 will be attended by representatives from select media and partners.
