United Airlines has inked a firm order for 30 Embraer E-175 jets plus 40 options. If all options are exercised, the combined order for 70 aircraft has an estimated value of $2.9 billion at current list prices.
The E-175s, which will be operated under the United Express brand, will be configured in a 76-seat layout. The first delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
United vice chairman and chief revenue officer Jim Compton said the aircraft are part of the carrier’s fleet modernization plan.
