Ryanair said today that it will bring 1 million more passengers and nine new routes to Manchester, Liverpool and East Midlands airports next year.
The airline said it will add one aircraft and new five routes to its existing 29-route schedule at Manchester airport next summer: Corfu, Krakow, Lanzarote, Paphos and Trapani. This will deliver 360,000 new passengers, bringing its total annual passenger numbers at the airport to over 2.4 million.
In summer 2012, Ryanair will add Lublin and Zadar to its Liverpool schedule which already has 37 routes. This will result in over 180,000 new passengers, bringing its total annual number to over 2.1 million.
Finally, in East Midlands, Marseille and Menorca will be added, while it will add flights to 17 of its 36 other routes. This, said the airline, will add 460,000 passengers, bringing its annual total to over 2.3 million.
The nine new routes from Manchester, Liverpool and East Midlands will be available for booking on the Ryanair website from tomorrow.
"Ryanair today celebrates 1 million passenger growth at three North West airports, with nine new routes, which will sustain 1,000 new jobs at Manchester, Liverpool and East Midlands airports,” said CEO, Michael O’Leary.
He said the airline will fly almost 7 million passengers and sustain over 7,000 jobs at Manchester, Liverpool and East Midlands airports in 2013.
