Miles & More programme changes effective from 1 September 2012

23/03/2012

Since it was established in 1993 Miles & More has grown to be Europe's leading frequent flyer programme. However, every successful concept requires a regular review and must be adjusted from time to time to take account of changed market conditions and economic circumstances. That is why, as part of a comprehensive revision of the programme, a number of changes will take effect on 1 September 2012.
On the one hand, these changes will take account of our high aspirations and the increased quality of the new generation of products that is now being gradually introduced. On the other, they will reflect the different values of the differentiated pricing structure more strongly and consistently than before within the Miles & More programme. The changes are as follows:

New rule for earning miles in Business booking class Z

In future the miles earned in Business Class will be more closely aligned to the value of the ticket, as is already the case in Economy Class. Therefore the mileage credit in the lower-priced Business booking class Z is being amended from 1 September 2012 for flights operated by Adria Airways, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Luxair and SWISS. In future passengers in this booking class will receive:
1,000 award, status and HON Circle miles on domestic flights
1,250 miles on cross-border flights within Europe
150% of the distance miles on worldwide flights

Introduction of the new Business booking class P

With immediate effect the new booking class P is being offered on Lufthansa Business Class flights. The following miles will be credited for this lowest-priced Business booking class:
500 award, status and HON Circle miles on domestic flights
750 miles on cross-border flights within Europe
100% of the distance miles on worldwide flights
These mileage levels will also apply to Business booking class P on Austrian Airlines flights with effect from 16 May 2012 and on SWISS flights with effect from 1 September 2012.

Adjustments to the upgrade awards from Business Class

Effective from 1 September 2012, upgrade awards from Business booking class Z to First Class will no longer be available on Lufthansa-operated flights. The same applies to the new Business booking class P with immediate effect.

On SWISS-operated flights, upgrade awards to First Class from Business booking classes Z and P will continue to be available. There will be an additional surcharge of 20,000 miles for these upgrades with effect from 1 September 2012.

One-way flight award available with even more airlines

Also from 1 September 2012, members will be able to book one-way flight awards with all Miles & More airline partners. For these, 50% of the miles for a regular flight award (outbound and return flight) will be required.

Also new: one-way flight awards will be bookable online at www.miles-and-more.com.
This applies to flights on the following airlines: Adria Airways, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Condor, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS.
