Erano i numeri che avevo letto anch'io. Siamo ancora lontani, anche se le prospettive per questo velivolo si fanno ogni anno più interessanti. Io credo che nel medio/lungo termine avrà un grande successo.
Sono daccordo, anche se dopo l'articolo uscito un paio di giorni fa sul pricing implementato da Boeing per il 787 (vedi thread sul 787), non mi sorprenderebbe che Airbus abbia fatto calcoli diversi.
Daltronde il break-even viene calcolato su dati in realta' a noi sconosciuti (giustamente).
La cosa che e' comunque evidente fino a questo momento e' che Airbus sul mercato dei large wide bodies abbia stravinto. Resta da vedere quanti anni ci metta per il ROI considerando le dinamiche crescenti di mercato e la totale (virtuale) assenza di un competitor, visto il fallimento del 748 pax (LH a parte).
Sarà solo questione di tempo per il break-even, l'A380 non ha concorrenti attualmente e con il prevedibile aumento dei pax ed aeroporti sempre più congestionati sarà sempre più diffuso.
E non scordiamoci di tutte le ricadute positive che l'ingegnerizzazione di un nuovo aereo porta all'interno di un gruppo industriale.

QANTAS has been given the green light by engine-maker Rolls-Royce to operate its A380 aircraft at full payload on the Los Angeles route.
But according to the airline it has yet to begin talks with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority about restarting services in mid-January.
The airline had been constrained from flying the route because of thrust limitations Rolls-Royce placed on the engines, which would have required it to carry fewer passengers and less freight. Qantas told the Federal Court last year that the thrust requirements would limit it to as few as 80 passengers on the route.
But Rolls-Royce is now apparently confident it has identified the problem that caused an A380 engine to explode near Singapore in November: a manufacturing glitch that produced misbored oil tubes. The misalignment in the boring process meant one side of the tube wall was thinner. Cracking in this area is believed to have been the source of oil leaks that caused a fire in the engine and the disintegration of a turbine disc.
Qantas has the A380 services scheduled to restart on January 17 and it is understood a meeting with CASA is set for this week.
Although CASA wants to look at the documents Qantas received from Rolls-Royce and scrutinise the airline's response before approving operations, Qantas remains hopeful it will meet the January schedule.
Qantas spokeswoman Olivia Wirth said the airline was still working through Rolls-Royce's advice.
"We have got advice from Rolls-Royce that they are comfortable to have the A380 operating to Los Angeles given the checks and technical analysis they've done on the engine," she said.
Qantas was still working through the details of the removal of the operational constraint on the aircraft, but when that was done and when the airline was comfortable with the advice provided, it would talk with CASA.
Qantas A380 services to London resumed in late November and all five operational aircraft are currently servicing the kangaroo route, while Boeing 747 aircraft are flying to the US.
The airline is keen to get the A380s back on its LA routes.

Airbus is forecasting that the A380's recent upturn in new business is set to continue through this year.
After a lean spell, two new customers have been added in almost as many months, and more deals should follow, predicts Airbus's A380 product marketing chief Richard Carcaillet. "We think this is going to be a busy year. There are a number of campaigns and discussions going on."
The sales revival began in November when Japanese domestic carrier Skymark announced an agreement - yet to be firmed up - for four aircraft, and this was followed by January's order from Asiana for six aircraft, taking total sales - 10 years since the launch - to 244 aircraft from 19 customers (assuming they all firm up). Carcaillet says that the earliest slots now available are for 2015 deliveries.
Prior to the Skymark deal, Airbus had added just two new airlines to its A380 customer list since 2006. This was a breakthrough deal for Airbus, where Japan's deep-rooted industrial links with Boeing have always made the country's airlines a hard sell for Airbus. But Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways - who have been major customers for the Boeing 747 - are longstanding targets for the A380 sales team.
They are already feeling the presence of the A380 from some of the existing operators who operate the type to Japan, and this has been amplified by the deal with Skymark, which will use its four A380s for new long-haul services. "The Japanese carriers operate in a concentrated market and very much have the potential to use this aircraft. It is a matter of time," says Carcaillet.
Most airlines that have signed for the A380 have had big 747 fleets, and there are still some significant operators that are yet to commit. These are largely Asian airlines - like the two Japanese network carriers, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, EVA Air and Air China. However, Carcaillet does not rule out securing business from the USA's two big 747-400 operators - Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
"There is clear potential [to sell A380s to US carriers] which becomes glaringly obvious with the consolidation between Northwest and Delta and United and Continental," Carcaillet says. He expects the A380's benefits to become increasingly clear to the US carriers as the competition grows from rival airlines introducing the double-decker on more of their routes.
Intriguingly, Boeing did not have its stretched 747, the -8I, at the forefront of its Asiana campaign, says product marketing director Keith Stonestreet. "The 747 wasn't coming out as one of the key competitors."
Stonestreet hints that Boeing's unsuccessful attempt to keep the A380 out of Asiana was based around the smaller 777-300ER and the view that the best way to grow capacity was with a larger number of smaller widebodies.
"I don't believe an airline [like Asiana] that has an existing network with key routes into congested points can do without the A380," says Carcaillet.
Yesterday (18 Jan) Airbus announced it was raising the list price of the A380 by 8.4% based on its "outstanding" in-service performance.
