Nuova business lungo raggio Air France

Air France’s new long-haul Business class seat praised by passengers
Tuesday 29 March 2011

. a longer, wider and more spacious “full sleep” seat

. 26 aircraft equipped by summer 2011

Since last December, Air France has gradually been introducing a new Business class cabin on its long-haul network, equipped with a “full sleep” seat, which is longer, wider and more spacious and which has been totally redesigned to provide additional comfort.

After three months of operations and a survey carried out among customers, this new long-haul Business class seat has been praised by 97% of them, who consider the new seat’s comfort in the sleeping position as “good” to “excellent”. The positive comments mainly concern the quality of sleep during the flight, its horizontal position and the legroom.

Air France has indeed been working with ergonomists and customers to provide additional comfort while preserving the overall dimensions (over 2 metres long and 61cm wide) which make it one of the most spacious seat beds on the market.

Other new features also caught the attention of customers:

•how easy the seat is to use,
•its different relaxation positions (including during take-off and landing),
•the new storage space.
→ Close to 95% of customers surveyed would recommend it.

Inaugurated on 8 December 2010 between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-Newark, the new long-haul Business class seats will equip 26 aircraft by summer 2011*. Given the positive results, Air France has decided to anticipate the implementation of these new seats by equipping 63 aircraft by summer 2012.

“Air France has chosen a new Business class seat without compromising on the size, to focus on sleep quality, a key factor for our customers. The seat has several different relaxation positions for optimum comfort during the entire flight. This seat, which has been praised by our customers, constitutes a competitive advantage to benefit from the upturn in business traffic” declared Christian Herzog, SVP Marketing at Air France-KLM.

*The new Business class seats are available on flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Brazzaville and Pointe Noire and will shortly be available on flights to New York (Newark), Rio de Janeiro, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, New York (Kennedy) and Santiago de Chile.
