06 May 2021

Two Based Aircraft, $200m Investment, 21 New Routes
Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 airline, today (6th May) announced a new base opening in Stockholm Arlanda with two based aircraft, 89 departing flights per week, and 21 new routes to a host of international destinations across Europe from October ‘21. This new base represents a $200m investment and will deliver increased connectivity to the region, playing a key role in the recovery of jobs and the local economy.

Ryanair’s Stockholm Arlanda Winter ’21 schedule will deliver:
  • Two based aircraft (a $200m investment) – creating 60 direct jobs.
  • 89 departing flights per week.
  • 21 new routes to 15 countries including Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia and UK*
  • International connections to winter sun destinations such as Alicante, Malaga and Thessaloniki, city breaks to the likes of London, Milan and Vienna and domestic connections to Malmo and Gothenburg.
Swedish consumers and tourists can now plan a getaway as far out as March ’22 on even lower fares and with the option to avail of Ryanair’s zero change fee should plans change. To celebrate, Ryanair has launched a seat sale with fares available from just 209 SEK for travel until the end of March 2022, which must be booked by midnight 9th May on the Ryanair.com website.

Ryanair’s CEO, Eddie Wilson said:
“We are delighted to announce the opening of our base in Stockholm Arlanda, which will deliver increased connectivity with two based aircraft from October ‘21. This development will create over 60 direct jobs and offer our Swedish customers a host of European destinations to choose from this winter, with 21 new routes connecting Sweden’s capital to the likes of Alicante, Brussels, London, Milan, Thessaloniki and Vienna.
Efficient operations and competitive airport charges provides the foundation from which Ryanair can deliver long-term traffic growth and increased connectivity. We have worked closely with Stockholm Arlanda airport to secure this growth and improve the services for those that live, work or wish to visit the region. At a time when other airlines are reducing their workforce, we’re delighted to be making further investments in both our people and in airports throughout Europe and look forward to commencing the recruitment for these roles very soon.
Mindful that Covid restrictions change regularly, customers can now book flights for a well-deserved break knowing that if they need to postpone or change their travel dates, they can do so up to two times with a zero-change fee until the end of October 2021.
To celebrate, we are launching a seat sale with fares available from 209 SEK for travel until the end of March 2022, which must be booked by midnight 9th May. Since these amazing low fares will be snapped up quickly, customers should log onto www.ryanair.com and avoid missing out.”

Swedavia airports Director of Marketing & Commercial Development, Charlotte Ljunggren said:
“It is with great joy that we welcome Ryanair to Arlanda and Ryanair’s continued expansion in the Swedish market. Their large number of destinations is an important addition and complement to the existing range of destinations available at our airports. At the same time, access is improved both within Sweden and outside the country, and this is especially true for the important visiting relatives and friends travel segment. Access will be important in the restart after the pandemic, and more direct routes are important for regional growth and for the tourism industry all across Sweden. We have had a good partnership for many years with Ryanair that we now look forward to developing in the years to come”
