Niki, TUIfly to operate under new Blue Sky brand
22NOV2016
Further details concerning the proposed tie-up between Niki (HG, Vienna) and TUIfly (Germany) (X3, Hanover) have emerged the Süddeutsche Zeitung has reported.
Under the proposed partnership, Niki, TUIfly, and parts of Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel) will begin operating under a singular brand name - Blue Sky. A new joint-holding company, based in Hanover, will be established with Niki controlling a 51% stake, Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) 25%, and TUI AG owning 24%. Blue Sky will commence operations with a fleet of sixty-two aircraft sourced from all three contributing carriers.
However, although Niki's and TUIfly's administration is to be concentrated in Hanover, their flight operations will remain separate with each carrier to retain its own AOC.
A formal announcement will be made towards the end of this month.
