Emirates Opens 35th Dedicated Lounge at Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci Airport

ROME, ITALY, 8th April 2014 Emirates, the global connector of people and places, celebrated the opening of its 35th dedicated lounge at Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome.
The Emirates Lounge at Leonardo Da Vinci Airport represents a Euro 2.53 million investment on the part of the airline, with the aim to provide a seamless, luxurious travel experience to its premium customers. These include First Class and Business Class customers, as well as Platinum and Gold members of Emirates Skywards - the airline’s frequent flyer programme. This follows the opening of the Emirates lounge in Milan Malpensa Airport in 2013.
The official opening was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Mohammed Mattar - Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President Airport Services, Fabio Maria Lazzerini - General Manager di Emirates Italia and Lorenzo Lo Presti, ADR – Aeroporti di Roma Chief Executive Officer.
“We work hard to consistently deliver the best travel experience to our customers, and the new lounge in Rome is a testament to our commitment. This is the largest dedicated lounge at the airport in Rome, and is in a new design that reflects the modern style of the Emirates lounges at Dubai’s Concourse A,” said Mohammed H. Mattar, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President – Airport Services.
“Our history in Italy started in Rome when we first established our presence in 1992, and it is the only city in Italy where we fly our iconic A380 aircraft. We have seen passenger numbers grow steadily in the last five years. The need for an Emirates lounge has never been greater. It underpins our ongoing investment in Italy, and from our chauffeur drive service to the tranquil luxury onboard, we provide our customers with a seamless Emirates experience they are accustomed to,” added Mr. Mattar.”
Emirates customers to and from Rome grew by over 110 per cent in 2013 from 2009 figures. The airline remains one of the most committed enterprises in Italy, with the UAE being Italy’s first trading partner in the Middle East. According to the ICE (Italian Trade Agency), exports from Italy to the United Arab Emirates in 2012 exceeded €5.5 billion. In addition to the two Emirates daily flights, the airline’s commitment to Rome continues with the BNL Internazionali d’Italia sponsorship.
"The new dedicated Emirates lounge at the Leonardo da Vinci airport confirms the important partnership between the Airline and Aeroporti di Roma and represents a further step towards excellence,” said Lorenzo Lo Presti, CEO of ADR – Aeroporti di Roma – SpA. “ADR aims to achieve excellent standards in the quality of all the services available to its customers. In the last period, in fact, our company has launched a series of investments aimed at significantly improving the quality of the infrastructure and services offered to both airlines and passengers.”
Located at Terminal 3 in the airside transit area, a few meters after passport control, the new Emirates Lounge in Rome offers seating for 156 customers covering an indoor area of 920 square meters. It features a contemporary design and the same attention to detail as the other Emirates’ lounges throughout the world.
Emirates currently operates in Italy with 42 weekly flights, including two daily flights to Rome Fiumicino, three daily flights to Milan Malpensa and a daily flight to Venice Marco Polo. More travelers have the chance to experience the A380 aircraft and all its comforts and features with a limited double daily A380 service on the Rome-Dubai route from 16th to 30th April.
Emirates’ operations has been responsible for the creation of more than 500 direct and supporting 2000 indirect/induced jobs in and around Rome (airport) in 2013, according to an Airports Council International (ACI) calculation.

- Emirates First Class and Business Class passengers as well as Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members, can access the lounge.
- Guests can enjoy an extensive open buffet of gourmet dishes from both Italy and around the world, as well as a complimentary full-bar service including premium wine, spirits and champagne.
- Other services include; a fully equipped business centre with Wi-Fi connection, TV and reading areas, shower facilities and a prayer room.
- The Emirates lounge can seat 156 customers in an area of 920 square meters with runway views.
- Furnished with Italian marble floors, Gold Rolex clocks, 156 leather armchairs and mahogany furniture, in line with the worldwide Emirates quality standards.
