Incident: Emirates A388 at Manchester on Sep 6th 2010, hard landing

An Emirates Airlines Airbus A380-800, registration A6-EDL performing flight EK-17 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Manchester,EN (UK), was approaching runway 05R at around 12:20L (11:20Z) when the airplane touched down hard prompting the crew to go-around. The aircraft landed safely on runway 05R 13 minutes later.
The airplane was unable to depart for its scheduled return flight EK-18 on Sep 6th and left Manchester the following day with a delay of 24 hours.
A passenger reported, that the approach had been very bumpy. The airplane touched down on its main gear very hard, the crew subsequently initiated the go-around without lowering the nose gear. The captain explained they went around because of the strong easterly gusting winds.
The AAIB said, that no incident occurred that the AAIB needs to be aware of.
Emirates Airlines did not comment.
