tutti a LJU!!!!!

Bankrupt Adria Airways leaves Star Alliance

Insolvent Slovenian carrier Adria Airways left Star Alliance Oct. 2, becoming the second member airline in a month to leave the alliance because of bankruptcy.

Adria filed for bankruptcy Sept. 30 and suspended all flights.

Adria’s exit from the alliance follows Brazilian airline Ocean Air Linhas Aéreas S/A, formerly doing business as Avianca Brasil, which left Star on Sept. 1. The São Paulo-headquartered airline filed for bankruptcy protection on Dec. 11, 2018.

“This has been a regrettable development following 15 years of Adria Airways’ membership in Star Alliance,” the alliance said in a statement.

Adria served around 20 scheduled destinations from its main hubs in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Pristina (Kosovo) and Tirana (Albania).

Meanwhile, Star Alliance partners Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) plan to increase their presence in Ljubljana.

Qualche numero sulla situazione finanziaria di Adria

Adria figures reveal growing financial pressure on carrier

Slovenian flag-carrier Adria Airways' latest full-year figures have revealed the extent of the financial pressure on the airline which collapsed at the end of September.
The airline's operating loss for 2018 increased nearly five-fold to €16.2 million ($17.8 million) while its net loss more than trebled to €18.6 million.
Adria's revenues reached €179 million.
It had assets of €48 million but liabilities of €62.2 million. These included current liabilities of nearly €55 million against current assets of less than €20 million.
Managing director Holger Kowarsch, who took over at the beginning of 2018, said in the newly-released annual report that the result was not one with which the company could be "completely happy", adding that it reflected "some historic decisions and past business moves".
Kowarsch pointed out that the company suffered higher costs, including the strengthening of the US dollar, and delays in admitting six Saab 2000s to the fleet, along with serious disruption to its flight operations. The airline lacked sufficient crews, which meant it had to resort to leasing.
But he claimed that the airline was "successfully adapting" to changes in the aviation industry, with its greater focus on its own leasing services.
"We also established new routes from Ljubljana in the summer season, and in the charter segment we focused on high-yield orders," he said.
During the fourth quarter, the annual report states, the carrier's owner, 4K Invest, recapitalised the company with €4 million and it subsequently underwent a change of ownership through a merger with STBE. Cirium/FG

Come aggiornamento :

Slovenia gives up on new national airline

The Slovenian Prime Minister, Marjan Šarec, has said it is highly unlikely for the government to set up a new national carrier, three months after Adria Airways filed for bankruptcy. The Prime Minister noted, “The creation of a new national airline, be it fully or partly state-owned, is highly unlikely. In the meantime, many of the routes formerly operated by Adria have been taken over by foreign carriers since they proved to be of interest to the Slovenian public”. Over the past three months, the government has been studying the prospects of establishing a new national airline jointly with a regional carrier. In November, the Slovenian Minister for Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Počivalšek, who has become increasingly isolated in his pursuit to set up a new airline, said talks with the potential partner had “come a long way”.

The Slovenian state-owned Bank Assets Management Company (BAMC) drafted a business plan for the country’s potential new national airline. Under the proposal, the carrier would have reportedly operated a fleet of five Bombardier aircraft and counted some 200 employees. Based on the Assets Management Company’s calculations, the airline would have recorded a twenty million euro loss in its first year of operations. Since Adria’s collapse, three foreign carriers have entered the Slovenian market, while the majority already serving the country have increased frequencies or plan to do so next summer season. In 2020, Iberia will become the latest airline to start operations to Ljubljana.

Meanwhile, parties that submitted bids for Adria Airways’ remaining assets have complained over the slow pace in announcing the results of the tender, which closed on November 10. Adria’s receiver has since held talks with the five bidding subjects, however, the results of the public call, which were to be announced by November 25, are yet to be made public. Bidders include the Slovenian ultralight electric aircraft maker Pipistrel, Slovenian businessman Joc Pečečnik, who is the founder of Interblock Gaming, as well as businessman Izet Rastoder, a banana importer, seller and real-estate developer.

Air Adriatic acquires Adria Airways

Slovenian company Air Adriatic, owned by businessman Izet Rastoder, has acquired Adria Airways for 45.000 euros. The banana importer and seller, as well as real estate developer, set up Air Adriatic just days following Adria’s collapse in late September of last year. Mr Rastoder previously said he plans to use Adria’s Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to develop an airline in the private aviation sector and is in the process of acquiring two private jets. However, the Montenegrin-born businessman, who moved to Ljubljana in 1986, has also considered establishing a low cost carrier based in the Slovenian capital.

Three companies participated at the auction. In addition to Air Adriatic, they included Komforia, a Croatian business which is also registered in Slovenia, as well as Deal.Aero, a newly established company owned by former Adria Airways pilot Dejan Slodej. All parties involved paid a 4.500 euro deposit to take part in the auction. Despite a highly publicised plan drafted by Russian investors to relaunch Adria with an all-Sukhoi Superjet 100 fleet, they did not participate in the sales process.

Adria’s assets were sold off today as a whole and they include the AOC, as well as various manuals, including those for operations, training, maintenance, security, weather, passenger handling and cargo handling. The carrier’s AOC has been suspended until September 30, 2020, however, it will be reinstated once Air Adriatic fulfils certain obligations set out by the Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency, among which is the possession of operational aircraft. Mr Rastoder’s company will also have to take on a number of obligations. Among them is the amendment of any discrepancies that arose following the revocation of the airline’s AOC and the launch of bankruptcy procedures. A Slovenian AOC gives its holder rights to maintain commercial services from Slovenia and other European Union-member states.
