WOW AIR PURCHASES ICELAND EXPRESS
Last updated: October 24th @ 19:23
WOW air has completed its purchase of all Iceland Express flight operations and scheduling.
Little or no disruption will be caused for Iceland Express ticket holders and WOW air will ensure that all obligations to Iceland Express customers are met.
Over the coming days the company will contact the small number of passengers who can expect slight changes to their travel itinerary.
Increased frequency and more destinations
The arrangement is not a merger. WOW air is instead taking control of all Iceland Express flight operations. The company will hereafter fly under the WOW air brand, which will continue to emphasise entertaining service, increased legroom and always offering the lowest cost air travel to and from Iceland. This acquisition will create a powerful Icelandic low-fares airline with new destinations and a lot more flights.
WOW air will immediately offer an increased number of flights to London and Copenhagen, as well as flights over the winter to Berlin. Flights are also on offer to Salzburg during the ski season, and to Warsaw and Kaunas over Christmas.
Starting next spring WOW air will fly four Airbus A320 planes and provide 400,000 seats to and from Iceland. The airline will fly to 15 European destinations next summer: London, Copenhagen, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan, Zurich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Lyon, Alicante, Frankfurt, Vilnius and Warsaw. Alongside offering more destinations, the airline will also increase the number of flights offered on many routes, a statement said
