In seguito al non concretizzarsi di alcuni accordi con l'ente di gestione dell'aeroporto slovacco, Wizzair ha reso noto di voler desistere dall'espandere la nuova base di Bratislava che ha visto la luce in seguito alla dipartita di SkyEurope.
Motivo per cui il collegamento per FCO, primo e al momento unico volo operativo da BTS, sarà sospeso dall'11 gennaio p.v.
Wizz Air Packs its Bags and Leaves Bratislava
The low-cost carrier Wizz Air decided to stop operating at the Bratislava Airport as of January 11th, 2010. Following protracted talks with the airport authorities, the company definitively decided to give up on its plan to establish a base in Slovakia. It informed that this is the reason why it is canceling its sole regular line from Bratislava to Rome as of January 2010. The company said they were disillusioned that they had been unable to agree on business terms with the Bratislava Airport. Wizz Air is now the biggest cheap flights carrier in Central and Eastern Europe. It started regular service from Bratislava to Rome in September this year. As of November Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has also been operating a regular line from the Slovak capital to Rome. The Slovak low-cost air carrier SkyEurope Airlines had operated a regular flight to Rome from Bratislava until it went bankrupt in late August, 2009.
