Manston holiday firm folds

It is feared that some 2,400 holidaymakers may be stranded abroad following the collapse of a company operating flights out of Kent International Airport at Manston.

Seguro Holidays, which also trades as Kent Escapes, stopped business today (Wednesday).

A statement from travel association ABTA states: “ABTA understands that there are 2,400 people abroad with Seguro Travel and 17,253 forward bookings up until the end of summer 2009.”

Destinations included the Canary Islands and Majorca.

The Civil Aviation Authority will address the issue of customers who were booked with the firm.

A message on the Seguro website reads: “The directors of the company deeply regret the closure of the business which has been brought about by the failure of Futura Airlines last weekend.

“The directors apologise to all of our customers.”

As well as running holidays with flights from KIA, Seguro also operated air package holidays with flights from Glasgow Prestwick.
