Singapore Airlines to fly superjumbo A380 to Zurich
Jan 14, 2010, 9:56 GMT
Singapore - Singapore Airlines on Thursday said it would start to fly the Airbus A380 superjumbo jet to Zurich from March 28.
The Swiss city would be the third city in Europe and the seventh worldwide to receive the A380 aircraft in its network, the airline said in a statement.
The new A380 service would replace the existing flights, which are operated with smaller Boeing aircraft, it said, adding that the operations were subject to Zurich airport being certified for A380 flights.
Singapore's national carrier currently has 10 A380 superjumbos in service, which it flies to Sydney, London, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong and Melbourne.
The airline said it had another nine A380 aircraft on firm order and options on six more.
Singapore Airlines, which has been hit hard by the global recession, earlier said that it had agreed with Airbus to delay the delivery of eight A380s by six to 12 months.
