Il mercato russo sta interessando le compagnie aeree low cost: la britannica easyJet ha lanciato collegamenti tra Londra e Mosca a marzo e l'ungherese WizzAir propone voli tra Mosca e Budapest da settembre. Ad ottobre il vettore aereo russo Aeroflot ha presentato la propria compagnia low cost 'Dobroliot' che sara' lanciata nel 2014

Credo che difficilmente Ryanair otterrà diritti per volare in Russia ucraina e Turchia per rotte al di fuori dell' Irlanda.

You ain’t seen nothing yet: Russians are bracing themselves for no-nonsense no-thrills.
Ryanair has been granted access to the Russian market in a landmark move by the Irish low cost carrier. Following in the footsteps laid down by the likes of easyJet and Wizz Air, Ryanair has been granted access to start flights in March 2014 from its Dublin home to Moscow and St Petersburg. Other LCCs which are currently in the Europe to Russia market also include germanwings, NIKI and Vueling.

Various other carriers (Aigle Azur, airberlin and Germania) also operate in the Europe to Russia market, but as such offer a hybrid product which anna.aero does not clarify as under the traditional low-cost model.
Which Moscow airport?
No doubt the carrier will also look in the near future to connect its 50-plus bases across Europe to the Russian market, should there be sufficient demand. Another question which remains unanswered is which of the three Moscow airports – Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo or Vnukovo – the LCC will operate into. anna.aero’s money is currently on Vnukovo.
A fax dated 11 October 2013 from the Irish Embassy in Moscow (see below) confirms that Ryanair seeks ”authorisation to fly Dublin to St Petersburg and Dublin to Moscow starting from the end of March 2014.” Apparently Rosaviation has now accepted this designation.
anna.aero asked Ryanair for comment and received this non-committal statement: “Ryanair has had discussions with a number of Russian airports, but they are purely exploratory at this time. Ryanair will always meet with airports that are interested in bringing Ryanair’s low fares to their market. Ryanair is currently in discussion with over 100 European airports, so competition for Ryanair growth is fierce. We talk to many airports and always keep the door open to new route options.”
 
The commercial director of Northern Capital Gateway, the company that operates St Petersburg Pulkovo airport, said that it had received formal notification from Ryanair that it will not launch the route in 2014.

That decision comes as Ryanair yesterday started taking delivery of the first of 180 Boeing aircraft it ordered last year. Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary was on hand at Dublin Airport to welcome the aircraft from Seattle.

Ryanair had expected to be in a position to launch flights from Dublin to St Petersburg this autumn.It has also been eyeing a service to Moscow.

Ryanair was granted permission last year by Russia's federal air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, to operate the routes as of March this year.

But speaking to the Irish Independent last month, Mr O'Leary claimed the delay in launching the routes to Russia was because tourism funding support hadn't been forthcoming.


"Services from Ireland to Moscow and St Petersburg would be very successful," said Mr O'Leary.

"But they're long flights and they would be a relatively low fare for a couple of years while you're building them up," he added.

"What strikes me as surprising is that at a time when the tourism industry is marketing Russia and China as two major targets, is that an airline that's willing to fly to Russia can't get any support from them."

He said services such as ground-handling had already been agreed at St Petersburg.


The Russian market could be a significant one for Ryanair. If it succeeds in buying Cyprus Airways, it would target Russia. Mr O'Leary has also said that if Ryanair launches services to Israel, Russia would be one of the markets it could serve from there.
