An Angara Airlines Antonov AN-24 on behalf of Tomsk Avia, flight TSK-5007 from Tomsk to Surgut (Russia) with 33 passengers and 4 crew, was enroute near Nizhnevartovsk when the left hand engine fire broke out prompting the crew to attempt a diversion to Nizhnevartovsk. The aircraft however had to touch down on the river Ob Canal about 1km off Medvedevo about 30nm short of Nizhnevartovsk.

The West Siberian Transport Prosecution office reported there were casualties, "the death toll is to be specified". Survivors have been taken to a local hotel for medical care. The aircraft received substantial damage.
