A Livingston Airbus A330-200, registration I-LIVL performing flight LM-125 from Holguin (Cuba) to Milan Malpensa (Italy), was enroute when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (Trent 772) down, turned around and diverted to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic). The airplane landed safely in Punta Cana about one hour later.
A passenger reported, that fluid was dripping from the left hand engine after landing. The captain later said, that maintenance had identified an engine oil leak in some duct. They were taken to local holiday resorts.
A replacement Airbus A330-200 registration I-LIVM reached Milan with a total delay of 55 hours.
