Delta, China Airlines not to take part in Czech Airlines tender

Prague, Feb 13 (CTK) - Neither the US company Delta Air lines, nor China Airlines of Taiwan are going to take part in the privatisation of the Czech national air carrier Czech Airlines (CSA), representatives of both companies told CTK Friday.
Both companies have appeared in speculations about the future new owner of CSA.
China Airlines finds itself in a difficult situation due to the global economic recession, the company's Gina Shay told CTK. The company now focuses on cutting costs and will not take part in the CSA tender in this situation, she said.
China Airlines and CSA signed a cooperation agreement last March and are jointly operating some air lines.
Delta Air Lines, CSA's partner in the SkyTeam alliance, is not planning to take part in the CSA tender either, company spokeswoman Debbie Egereton said.
Delta operates flights from Prague to Atlanta. In summer it is going to introduce, in cooperation with CSA, direct flights Prague - New York.
The only large company that has confirmed its participation in the CSA tender is Russia's Aeroflot. However, the Russian paper Vedomosti wrote several days ago that the intention of Aeroflot's management to buy CSA has met with disagreement of supervisory board members, who argue that the Russian air carrier is in a difficult financial situation.
According to Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Fuksa, interest in CSA has been shown by some companies from Western Europe and Far East and Aeroflot.
Analysts most often speculate about Korean Air and China Southern. CTK has not, however, obtained their statements so far. Large Western European companies have not commented on the matter either.
According to analyst Jan Prochazka of the Cyrrus company, the price of CSA may climb up to Kc4.5bn.
The Finance Ministry put up the tender for CSA on February 5. Bidders can submit their bids by March 23. The new owner should be known by Sept 30 at the latest.
The state is selling its entire stake of 91.51 percent of CSA share capital. The only criterium in the second round of the tender will be the price.
