Bahrain, Jordan: Petra airline purchases 2 Airbus from Gulf Air
Bahrain (Manama) - A private Jordanian airline has bought two Airbus A-320 jets which were auctioned off by Gulf Air, the flag carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain whose fleet is now undergoing modernization.
Gulf Air said it had put on auction four A-320s, two of which were bought by the Jordan-based Petra Airlines at a combined price of $12 million. It said all four aircraft were sold at a total price of $92 million.
Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali said his company's strategy was to modernize its fleet and would receive delivery of 10 new aircraft to replace 10 old jets operating on its fleet.
Petra Airlines is a new Charter company and plans to start a schedule operation this year and partner with other Schedule Operators in the region and Europe. (Petra)
