Copa orders up to 21 Boeing Next Generation 737

CHICAGO, July 16 (Reuters) - Copa airlines on Thursday said it had ordered 13 Boeing Co (BA.N) 737-800 airplanes, worth about $1 billion at list prices, and had options for an additional eight.
With the announcement, Copa, a unit of Copa Holdings (CPA.N),now has 7 firm orders for 737s.
Delivery of the 13 newly ordered 737s is set to begin in 2012 and end in 2015.
Boeing has suffered this year under the weight of economic weakness that has led carriers to cancel or delay orders for aircraft.
Shares of Boeing were up 37 cents at $41.73 on the New York Stock Exchange. Copa shares were down $1.63 at $39.60 at midday on NYSE.
Copa, a Latin American passenger and cargo service, flies to destinations in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean.
