"15.01.2007 Domodedovo International Airport Maintains Leading Position in Moscow Aviation: 2006 Results
Domodedovo International Airport has released its operating results for 2006. Overall passenger traffic at the airport reached
15.3 million passengers, a 10.1% year-on-year increase.
In 2006, Domodedovo won 14 new domestic and international airlines. Its route network has been expanded by 30 new destinations worldwide.
Airlines which launched services from Domodedovo last year included Singapore Airlines, Wind Jet (Italy), Eurofly (Italy), NEOS (Italy), Meridiana (Italy), Alpi Eagles (Italy), SCAT (Kazakhstan), Hola Airlines (Spain), Royal Jordanian Airlines, Aviaprad (Russia), Karat (Russia), bmi (UK), Air Berlin and Austrian Airlines.
The highest growth was recorded to such destinations as Bangkok, London, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Istanbul, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Volgograd, Krasnodar and Larnaca. Domodedovo served over 1.9 million passengers on these routes, a 40% growth against the results of 2005.
New services were launched to Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Beloyarsky, Eysk, Nazran, Naryan-Mar, Penza, Sovetsky, Khanty - Mansiysk, Saransk, Tambov, Aktobe, Gyoumri, Pavlodar, Kurgan-Tube, Termez, Uralsk, Abu Dhabi, Amman, Amritsar, Bari, Vienna, Catania, Luxemburg, Naples, Nuremberg, Beijing, Sanya, Toronto and Forli.
Additional information:
- Passenger throughput on international routes in 2006 reached 8.5 million, up 9.0% over 2005.
- Passenger traffic on domestic routes rose to 6.8 million, an 11.6% increase compared with the results of the previous year.
- Passenger throughput in December 2006 was 1.1 million, a 17% increase against December 2005, including 606,000 passengers on international routes (a 24.5% rise) and 548,000 passengers on domestic routes (a 9.6% increase)."
