Questa mattina c'e' stato un comunicato ufficiale letto a BBC Breakfast che diceva che la societa' continuera' a volare e si aspettano fondi da investitori. Apparentemente le voci non sono fondate. Va anche detto che se le voci fossero state vere, questa mattina avrebbero annunciato la messa a terra (si dice cosi' grounding?)

Ah perfetto. Ho un volo Monarch prenotato per Capodanno, tra l'altro ritorno con un'altra compagnia, quindi manco a dire che mi rimborsano tutto. Ottimo. Speriamo bene...

Over the weekend, there has been negative speculation about Monarch’s financial health.

Monarch is trading well and is expected to achieve an EBITDA of over £40m at the end of this financial year (October 2016). This is despite a difficult period for the holiday industry due to terrorist incidents, Brexit and the resulting devaluation of sterling.

Our flights and holidays are operating as normal, carrying Monarch customers as scheduled.

To weather tougher market conditions and to fund its ongoing growth, Monarch expects to announce a significant investment from its stakeholders in the coming days.

I rumours che circolano al momento dicevano anche che gli handlers di Gatwick, Manchester e altri posti hanno ricevuto, o avrebbero ricevuto, richieste per muovere aerei in posizioni remote per long term storage, o per return to lessors, e quegli aerei dovrebbero essere di Monarch. Si diceva, anche, che c'erano aerei di UA, Air Transat e altri diretti in UK per coprire Monarch... Doveva succedere tutto oggi ma, ovviamente, non e' successo.

Chaos looms as Monarch risks losing its licence
Many of this morning's papers report that Monarch Airlines was trying to raise funds yesterday after concerns from the industry regulator. The Times notes that the carrier’s licence runs out on Friday and the CAA has already chartered jets in an emergency contingency operation to fly stranded passengers home. The Daily Telegraph notes that the company had played down the threat to its future and said it was on the brink of announcing 'significant' new investment. The company said: "Over the weekend, there has been negative speculation about Monarch’s financial health. Our flights and holidays are operating as normal, carrying Monarch customers as scheduled." In her Telegraph column, In the City, Julia Bradshaw suggests that the inevitable longer term outcome was consolidation, either between budget carriers, or being brought into a larger airline group. She comments: "The idea of an easyMonarch isn't completely implausible, nor is a tie-up with BA."

Le ultime due righe sono fantascienza secondo me. Ma, giusto l'altro giorno, il Telegraph diceva che alcuni "senior managers" di BA erano stati avvistati a bordo di Norwegian e quindi un'acquisizione di Norwegian era plausibile. :clown:

Tutto ciò che non è specificamente vietato dalla legge è "plausibile".

Chiamatemi vecchio brontolone ma a me sembra una crisi fabbricata da imprecise informazioni da cui vengono tratte conclusioni affrettate ed esagerate.
Insomma 2+2 che fa 6,5

“The CAA has granted Monarch a 12 day extension to its existing ATOL licences. The extended licences will now expire at 23:59 on 12 October 2016.
“The CAA was able to do this by requiring the shareholder to provide additional funding and because customers' money will be protected.
“Monarch now has 12 days to satisfy the CAA that the group is able to meet the requirements for a full ATOL licence.
“Monarch will remain ATOL licensed until this extension expires.
“The CAA always advises consumers to ensure they book ATOL-protected air holidays and consumers who choose to book an ATOL-protected flight or holiday with the company during this time will continue to be protected by the ATOL scheme.
“During this period of extension, the CAA will continue to monitor the company.”
