Management change at Spanair: Nigaard va a Vueling

Lars Nygaard, CEO of the SAS Group subsidiary Spanair, has requested to leave his position with immediate effect to assume a new position outside the SAS Group.

Current CFO, Marcus Hedblom, will take over as CEO.

Spanair is Spain's second-largest airline, with 8.3 million passengers and revenues of approximately SEK 11 billion (2006).

El ex director de Spanair se perfila como ejecutivo de Vueling

El hasta ahora director general de Spanair, Lars Nygaard, se perfila como nuevo consejero delegado de la compañía aérea Vueling, que afronta una nueva etapa con la renovación de su equipo gestor y el fichaje como nuevo presidente de Josep Piqué, ex ministro y ex presidente del PP de Cataluña, según confirmaron ayer fuentes cercanas a la aerolínea con sede en Barcelona. El grupo escandinavo SAS, del que forma parte Spanair, anunció el martes que Nygaard abandonaba su cargo para ocupar un nuevo puesto fuera del grupo.

El primer accionista de Vueling, la familia Lara a través de su brazo inversor Inversiones Hemisferio, llevaba meses reclamando un nuevo equipo directivo que salve de la crisis a la aerolínea. Tras la dimisión del consejero delegado de Vueling, Carlos Muñoz, y el director general, Lázaro Ros, la compañía catalana ha pensado en Nygaard, que llevaba trabajando en el grupo escandinavo SAS desde 1991. Los títulos de Vueling cerraron ayer a 15,90 euros en Bolsa, con una caída del 7,29%.

Lars Lindgren new Executive Chairman of Spanair,
Lars Sandahl Sørensen new CEO of SAS International
SAS Internationals' CEO Lars Lindgren has been appointed Executive Chairman of Spanair, a
member of the SAS Group.
Lars Lindgren has strong background of international airline operations and has been a
member of the Spanair board for 10 years. He is also a board member of Swedish airline
Skyways and Latvia-based airBaltic, also a member of the SAS Group. Lindgren has held the
position as CEO of SAS International since 2004 and has been with Scandinavian Airlines
since 1974.
Lars Sandahl Sørensen will succeed Lars Lindgren as CEO of SAS International as of
November 26. Sandahl Sørensen joined SAS in 2003 as General Manager, Australia and New
Zealand. In September 2006 he returned to Scandinavia and his current role as Chief
Commercial Officer.
Prior to SAS, Sandahl Sørensen was CEO of the Danish Tourist Board Visit Denmark during
1995 and 2003.
