Swiss International Air Lines transported 7,735,402 passengers in the first six months of 2014, a slight 0.5% decline on the 7,772,447 of the same period last year. First-half passenger numbers within Europe were down 0.7%, while intercontinental services saw a 0.2% increase in their passenger volume. Swiss operated 1.9% fewer flights in the period: 71,518, compared to 72,899 in 2013. Of these, 62,597 were on the European network (down 2.7%) and 8,921 were on intercontinental routes (up 3.9%). Systemwide seat load factor for the period amounted to 81.7%, a 0.9-percentage-point decline from the 82.6% of January-to-June 2013.
