France plans to close down air travel on its shortest domestic routes to cut carbon emissions, Environment Minister Elisabeth Borne said on Monday. To help Air France-KLM weather the coronavirus crisis, the French government has made €7bn in loans and guarantees available on the condition that the airline cuts 40% of its domestic flights. What’s being asked of Air France will also apply to other carriers, Borne told French radio. She also said she supports “in principle” minimum prices for plane tickets.
