JetBlue Airways ordered 40 Airbus A320neo aircraft worth USD$3.4 billion at list prices at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday.
The carrier also said it would defer eight A320 planes from 2014-15 until 2017 and added that it would convert 30 existing A320 orders to larger A321s.
"We have taken significant steps in reducing our annual capital commitments through the next five years, while ensuring we are positioned for long-term success in a competitive, fuel-challenged, environment," JetBlue chief financial officer Ed Barnes said.
