Jet Airways suspended pilots after radio silence scare
A flight from Heathrow to Mumbai caused panic among air traffic controllers when it failed to communicate with them days after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines MH370.
Pilots on the Jet Airways flight turned down their radio volume and did not communicate with German air traffic controllers for almost 30 minutes, according to Indian media. Both pilots on the Boeing 777 flight on March 13 were taken off duties for a fortnight.
The incident prompted a complaint from German authorities and a probe from Indian regulators.
A Jet Airways spokesperson said: “Based on the investigation report, Jet Airways has ensured strict disciplinary action against the concerned pilots. The report has been sent to the German authorities for closure.” TTG
