Japan Airlines, Malév and Royal Jordanian joining
Japan Airlines' has signed a memorandum of understanding with oneworld as its first step towards joining the alliance. Both sides have committed to work towards bringing it on board as soon as possible. As the biggest carrier in the Asia-Pacific region, JAL would expand oneworld's existing network in this part of the world significantly.
Malév is set to become part of the alliance in early 2007. It will considerably expand oneworld's network in central and east Europe, adding its attractive Budapest hub as a key hub for the alliance.
Royal Jordanian has been elected on board oneworld also, effective from around the turn of 2006/2007. It is the first carrier from an Arab region to join any of the global airline groupings, expanding oneworld's presence in the Middle East and Gulf.
Until the joining processes are complete, it is business and service as usual for all three airlines and oneworld
