FARNBOROUGH England (Reuters) - The sales chief of Airbus (AIR.PA) said on Tuesday the European planemaker expects U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL.N) to order the revamped version of its A330 passenger jet that will include more fuel-efficient engines.
"I think this is an ideal aircraft for (Delta)," John Leahy, an Airbus chief operating officer, told Reuters Insider TV in an interview at the Farnborough Airshow, but said he did not expect a Delta order at this week's event. "The A330 is one of their most profitable, if not their most profitable aircraft right now."
Leahy said he expects Airbus to win at least 50 orders for the widebody A330neo at the airshow, adding that total sales of the revamped jet could eventually go "over 1,000 easily."
Delta said earlier this year it was looking to buy as many as 50 widebody jets to replace ageing Boeing 747-400 and 767-300ER planes.
The carrier is considering the Airbus A330, A350 as well as Boeing Co's (BA.N) 777 and 787 models.
Delta, which ordered 10 current-generation A330s last year, did not immediately comment on Leahy's remarks.

On July 14 Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company and BEK AIR airline based in Kazakhstan have signed during Farnborough International Airshow 2014 an agreement on delivery of seven Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
Long-range Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft are planned for delivery in full economy configuration with the capacity to carry 103 passengers: three aircraft in 2015 and four in 2016.
The Agreement was signed by the President of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company Mr Andrey Kalinovsky and the Chairman of BEK AIR Mr Nurlan Zhumasultanov. This document opens new prospects on the aviation operations market for SSJ100 aircraft within Eurasian Economic Union, which was founded according to agreement signed in Astana in May 2014 by the Heads of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.
The signature took place in the presence of Mr Mikhail Pogosyan, the President of the United Aircraft Corporation and cosmonaut Mr Talgat Musabaev, the Chairman of the National Space Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Hero of Russia and Kazakhstan.

Scusate se rigiro il coltello nella piaga, ma come al solito anche a questo salone, ordini di A380: zero.
E secondo me difficilmente, nei prossimi anni, vedremo consistenti ordini di A380 da parte di vettori che non l'hanno ancora ordinato... L'A380 non è per tutti.
