DOHA = Qatar Airways

Abu Dhabi= Etihad

Re: Etihad raddoppia JFK

Leggendo l'articolo sembra che EY operera' la rotta solo per due mesi. Dal 01/05 la rotta passera a Jet Airways (con c/s EY).

"Initially, the new flights will be operated by Etihad. But the operation will be switched to Etihad’s Indian partner, Jet Airways, from 1 May 2014, with Etihad codesharing on the flights."

Re: Etihad raddoppia JFK

[h=1]JetBlue and Etihad Airways Announce Codeshare Plans[/h]CAPA > Direct News Sources > JetBlue and Etihad Airways Announce Codeshare Plans
23rd January, 2014
22-Jan-2014 JetBlue Airways, New York's Hometown Airline™, and Etihad Airways , the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, today announced plans to begin codeshare operations and provide customers with enhanced travel options worldwide.

The agreement, which is subject to government approval, will see Etihad Airways place its "EY" code on JetBlue-operated flights, initially facilitating connections between the two airlines at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Washington's Dulles International Airport (IAD).
In the first stage of the partnership, Etihad Airways will codeshare on 40 JetBlue routes within the US. Further codeshare services are planned on JetBlue flights once Etihad Airways commences daily flights to Los Angeles from June 2014. Subject to US and foreign government approval, Etihad Airways also plans to codeshare on JetBlue flights between New York and select destinations in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica andColombia.
"Like JetBlue, Etihad Airways has quickly established itself as a premier brand built on excellent service and a high-quality product," said Robin Hayes, JetBlue's President. "We look forward to partnering more closely with the airline and affording our customers access to some of the world's most fascinating destinations."
James Hogan, Etihad Airways ' President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "The US is a major and growing market for Etihad Airways and this partnership with JetBlue will enable us to offer our guests more options for travel within and beyond the US.
"In addition to New York and Washington, we also fly daily to Chicago. Just last week, we also announced a second daily flight between our hub,Abu Dhabi, and New York City, and we will start flights to Los Angeles and Dallas-Fort Worth in June and December this year."
From its US gateways of Chicago, New York and Washington DC Etihad Airways offers connections through its Abu Dhabi hub to dozens of destinations across the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Sub-Continent, Asia and Australia.
Etihad Airways is also one of the world's best-regarded airlines, with a focus on service and best-in-class product for all travellers, and was recently voted the World's Leading Airline, for the fifth consecutive year, at the World Travel Awards 2013. The airline's Diamond First Class has its own in-flight Chef; Pearl Business Class offers a specially-trained Food and Beverage Manager; and a Flying Nanny service was recently introduced to assist families travelling in all three cabins.
Customers transferring in New York or Washington to JetBlue will enjoy the award-winning airline's signature in-flight experience with unlimited free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks plus the most legroom in economy class (based on average fleet-wide seat pitch) and a variety of seatback TV and entertainment options. Later this year, JetBlue will debut Mint, the carrier's new premium offering, featuring the longest lie-flat bed* in domestic business class and the only private suites on the New York-Los Angeles and New York-San Francisco routes.

[h=3]US customs pre-clearance facility opens at Abu Dhabi Airport[/h]News
27-Jan-2014 11:54 AM

US Customs and Border Protection commenced operations at its customs pre-clearance facility atUAE's Abu Dhabi International Airport on 24-Jan-2014 (Wall Street Journal, 26-Jan-2014). The facility currently serves passengers for Etihad Airways' Abu Dhabi-Washington Dulles service and will expand to the airline's other US routes in the near future.

Abu Dhabi customs preclearance facility opens despites protests

A US airline lobbying group has said it will continue to protest the opening of a new customs and immigration preclearance facility in Abu Dhabi.

Airlines for America (A4A) has repeatedly urged the US government not to go ahead with the facility, claiming it gives an unfair advantage to Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi’s national carrier. Preclearance allows foreign-originating passengers to arrive in the US as domestic traffic, enabling them to skip the often lengthy queues at immigration desks.

Several members of Congress and the Air Line Pilots Association are among others that have spoken out opposing the plan.

The initial flights to be affected by the opening of the new facility operate from Abu Dhabi to Washington Dulles. Flight websites show only Etihad operates direct between the two points, although American Airlines has a codeshare with Etihad on the route.

In a written statement to ATW, A4A said that it “continues to believe that CBP [Customs and Border Protection] should focus on resolving lengthy wait times at US gateway airports before opening new preclearance facilities overseas, and we are committed to working with Congress and the Administration to achieve that goal.”

The concern is that passengers could opt for Etihad in preference to US carriers because of the convenience in pre-clearing immigration and customs.

In a statement earlier this month, the ALPA said that “by allowing a CBP preclearance facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport, where no US air carrier currently flies, the US government is handing a state-subsidized airline, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, a major competitive advantage over US airlines.”

Preclearance facilities already exist in Canada, several Caribbean nations and Ireland.

In a statement to the Associated Press following the opening, Etihad said that additional flights to the US will be processed via the facility in coming days. The airline currently operates non-stop daily flights from Abu Dhabi to New York, Washington DC and Chicago. It plans to open routes to Los Angeles and Dallas later this year.
