easyJet to open new Scandinavian route from London Gatwick to Copenhagen
easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, today announced that it is opening a new route to Scandinavia from its biggest base, London Gatwick.

Following yesterday’s bankruptcy of Sterling Airlines, easyJet will open a daily flight from Gatwick to Copenhagen, Scandinavia’s most important airport, with a view to increasing capacity at the beginning of the summer schedule. The route will launch on Thursday 15th January 2009. This new route is an addition to easyJet’s existing route to Copenhagen from London Stansted which operates three times a day.

David Osborne, easyJet’s Regional General Manager for the UK, said:

“easyJet is already the largest airline at Gatwick and this new route gives customers even more choice and unbeatable fares to one of Europe’s most fascinating capitals.

The Nordic countries offer considerable growth opportunities for easyJet. In addition to the new London Gatwick to Copenhagen route, easyJet will also offer a new connection from London Gatwick to Helsinki, which starts operating on 3 November 2008.”

Flights on the new route will be on sale on Wednesday 15 November 2008.
