ORY - 03/06/2011 New slot pool allocation
Some air carriers have stopped their operations and other air carriers have lost some or totality of their historic slots.
A pool of 3752 slots at Paris-Orly airport was then made available for reallocation.
COHOR, appointed as Paris-Orly airport co-ordinator by the modified French Minister of Transport Order of August 27th, 1996 and in accordance with the amended Council Regulation 95/93 of January 18th, 1993 on common rules for the allocation of slots at Community airports, distributed the entire pool on an annual basis considering the waiting list made of requests filed for the aeronautical Winter 2011/2012 season (W11).
The Council Regulation 95/93 which was amended in July 2004 stipulates that carriers must clearly request themselves the new entrant status and that half of the pool must be allocated between carriers' requests with new entrant status.
The carriers having claimed this new entrant status (and which are entitled to it) are:
Air Berlin (1 weekly flight to Berlin-Tegel), EasyJet Switzerland (1 daily flight to Pisa), Air Arabia Maroc (1 daily flight to Casablanca, 2 weekly flights to Marrakech et 2 weekly flights to Rabat ), Niki (12 weekly flights to Vienna),
Pegasus Airlines (1 daily flight to Istanbul), Transavia.com (1 weekly flight to Grenade), Vueling Airlines (1 daily flight to Bilbao, 2 daily flights to Bordeaux, 2 daily flights to Toulouse et 2 daily flights to Zurich), Wizzair (4 weekly flights to Sofia, 4 weekly flights to Vilnius et 4 weekly flights to Warsaw).
The airlines that have benefited from the distribution of the slot pool are (please click on "Attached Document" for further details):
As new entrant (1 876 slots):
• Vueling Airlines (1460 slots) : 2 daily flights to Zurich (ZRH) [article 2b ii) of the Slot Regulation]
• Wizzair (416 slots) : 4 weekly flights to SOFIA (SOF) [article 2b ii) of the Slot Regulation]
As incumbents (1 876 slots):
• British Airways (730 slots): equivalent to 1 daily flight
• Alitalia (730 slots): equivalent to 1 daily flight
• Corsairfly (416 slots) : equivalent to 4 weekly flights
These slots were allocated on the basis of submissions received for the aeronautical Winter 2011 season (W11). However, the carriers which have been allocated these new slots on an annual basis and willing to start their year round operations already before the end of the current aeronautical Summer 2011 season (S11) will be allowed to do so.
The reserved number of slots for year-round services will be allocated for the aeronautical summer 2012 season (S12) provided that the new services will really start for the winter 2011 season (W11) and that the year round operation requests are duly confirmed by carriers by the industry submission deadline for S12.
