Incident: Tomskavia AN24 at Svetlogorsk on Aug 22nd 2009, cow on runway

The crew of a Tomskavia Antonov AN-24, flight TSK-9256 from Tomsk to Svetlogorsk [UOIG] (Russia) with 44 passengers, aborted the approach to Svetlogorsk when they spotted a cow on the runway during final approach and went around. The airplane landed safely a couple of minutes later after the cow had been driven off the runway.
The West Sibirian Prosecution Office said, they don't know how the cow was able to get into the airport perimeter, which is being fenced and was upgraded with the most modern equipment. The office did not respond to questions, whether the cow had been grazing on the (concrete) runway.
