Italy's MiniLiner signs for five more converted Fokker 50s

Italian cargo carrier MiniLiner is planning to take five additional Fokker 50 passenger-to-freighter conversions from Dutch aerospace company Aircraft Conversions.
Bergamo-based MiniLiner, which became the launch customer for Aircraft Conversions’ E-Class cargo modification in December last year, has signed a memorandum of understanding covering five additional aircraft.
MiniLiner has two Fokker 50 freighters – the only two converted by Aircraft Conversions to date. The follow-on agreement will take the manufacturer to a total of seven aircraft since the beginning of the programme.
Aircraft Conversions chief executive Arnoud Smit says: “We are truly proud with this additional conversion order for Fokker 50 freighters from our launch customer, MiniLiner.
“It clearly reinforces our belief in the traditional technical qualities and superior operational characteristics of the [aircraft].”
The manufacturer says MiniLiner’s decision to take the additional aircraft was based on the type’s low maintenance and fuel costs, reliability and its payload-range characteristics.
MiniLiner operates eight Fokker F27s, the two converted Fokker 50s and two Let L-410s, according to details given on the airline’s website.
