China Airlines to launch more direct flights to Europe via A350 jets
China Airlines (CAL), Taiwan's largest carrier, said Monday that the new A350 jets it will receive in July will enhance its transport capabilities and enable non-stop flights to Europe.
Flights from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Amsterdam and Rome, which currently make layovers in Bangkok and Delhi, respectively, will become non-stop services starting this December, said CAL Chairman Sun Hung-hsiang.
CAL has ordered a total of 14 A350s -- Airbus' newest wide-body jetliners.
The airline said it will elevate its competitiveness in Europe following the introduction of the A350 fleet because passengers to all its European destinations -- including Vienna and Frankfurt, which already operate a on non-stop basis -- will be able to take direct flights.
Sun said he is cautiously optimistic about Taiwan's aviation market in the coming year, but also mentioned that it is facing fiercer competition from Middle East carriers, which are known for their widespread flight network and use of the newest aircraft.
For instance, the Dubai-based airline Emirates said last year it will use the Airbus A380 jetliner on its Taipei-Dubai route beginning in May in response to growing market demand.
It will be the first airline to introduce the double deck, wide-body, four-engine A380 aircraft on a Taiwan route. The decision came in the wake of upgrades to the Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, which can now accommodate A380s.
"We will hope for the best, and we will prepare for the worst," Sun said.

Detto questo 2xw non-stop sono meglio di 2xw con scalo.

Bene per il passaggio al volo non stop di China Airlines ma con questo cambiamento e con la riduzione di frequenze di Air India, i voli sulla FCO-DEL passeranno complessivamente da 6 a soli 3x week.
