British Airways announced Sunday it will launch a new flight between London and San Juan next summer.
Tickets for the route between London’s Gatwick International Airport and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport near San Juan go on sale on Monday. The service will begin operating in summer 2011.
“This new route demonstrates the benefit of our new transatlantic joint business with American Airlines,” British Airways CEO Willie Walsh said Sunday at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Leadership Strategy Conference in Barbados.
“With American, we will be able to offer through-connections to the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St Maarten and the U.S. Virgin Islands of St Croix and St Thomas.
“We will also have the opportunity to offer two-center holidays in combination with our existing destinations of Antigua, Grenada, Kingston and St Lucia.”
British Airways currently runs services to 14 Caribbean destinations with a total of 55 flights per week.
