Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has been informed about the explosion at Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport, press secretary of the head of the Russian government, Dmitry Peskov said. "Putin was informed about the explosion during the meeting devoted to the problems in the banking sector of the country," the official said.
Most likely, it was a suicide terrorist, who conducted the explosion at the airport, Interfax reports. The bomb blew up in the luggage dispensing area of the airport at 16:32 Moscow time. The death toll from the explosion has climbed to 20, RIA Novosti reports.
Many flights have been delayed. Flights from China, Germany, Turkey, Vietnam and Armenia, which were expected to arrive at Domodedovo during the next hour, have been delayed indefinitely.
In the meantime, Moscow hospitals are ready to accept those who have been injured in the attack. Over 20 ER vehicles have departed to the airport.
The power of the bomb has not been determined yet. The Moscow police are checking metro stations and other crowded public places to prevent possible acts of terrorism.
Security at Moscow's two other airports - Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo has been strengthened. The airports are operating in terror threat regime.
UPDATE: According to Vesti.ru, the death toll from the explosion has climbed to 31.

MOSCOW, January 24 (Itar-Tass) -- The death toll in Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport blast has risen to 31, the Ministry of Health and Social Development said.
It said 31 people had been killed and about 130 injured. Twenty of them are in critical condition.
The Moscow inter-regional investigation department on transport of Russia’s Investigation Committee has opened a criminal case on charges of terrorism.
Police said one or several suicide bombers may be behind the explosion.
The explosion occurred at the baggage claim area in the international arrivals section of the airport.
“The bomb might have been in the luggage,” a police officer said, adding that one of the possible leads was terrorism.
“According to available information, an explosion occurred at Domodedovo’s arrivals hall at 16:32 Moscow time,” a spokeswoman for the Moscow inter-regional investigation department on transport of Russia’s Investigation Committee, Tatyana Morozova, told Itar-Tass.
Preliminary reports put the casualties at up to 20 people.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development also said initially that 20 people had been affected.
Witnesses say that “very many people were injured” and the building of the airport was filled with smoke.
The investigation is underway.
From 14:00 until the explosion, passengers from some two dozen international flights, including from New York, Dubai, Ashgabat, Cairo, London, Vienna, Munich, Hamburg, Tokyo, Hurgada, Istanbul, might have been staying in the area of the explosion that occurred not far from one of the restaurants.
Those injured are being rushed to four Moscow hospitals, depending on their condition.
Moscow's Domodedovo Airport remains the biggest airport in Russia after 2010.
Airport statistics indicate that passenger traffic increased in 2010 by 19.2 percent to 22.3 million people at Domodedovo, by 31 percent to 19.3 million people at Sheremetyevo, and by 22 percent to 9.4 million people at Vnukovo.

MOSCOW, January 24 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll at Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport terrorist attack has reached 31, and another 130 people have been injured, Russia's Health Ministry said on Monday.
According to preliminary information, 130 people were injured, 20 of them are in the serious condition.
