Boeing sells $3 billion worth of 777 jets to mystery buyer

April 15, 2010 (Bloomberg) — Boeing Co. won an order valued at about $2.95 billion at average list prices for 12 of its 777 planes from an unidentified customer.

The order for the long-haul jets was listed on Chicago- based Boeing’s weekly update of its Web site today. It brings net aircraft orders for the year to 94, after the cancellation tally was increased by one 737 today to a total of 18.

Airlines have canceled orders as the global recession damped travel demand and as production and development problems set Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner back by more than two years. The number of dropped orders is shrinking as traffic picks up amid economic recovery.

Boeing’s only larger rival, Toulouse, France-based Airbus SAS, said last week it had 60 orders so far this year and hadn’t had any cancellations in the first three months. Both companies have enough orders in their backlogs for about seven years of production.

Non credo che siano dei privati. Di solito in questi casi gli ordini vengono attribuiti alla divisione executive BBJ. E comunque 12 mi sembrano un po' troppi...
